Atlus did a playable demo in China and it’s hard to get video of it right now but I’m sure I’ll find some to post within a day or so but it pretty much got extremely high marks across the board with the biggest praise going to the character models, the menus, seamless transition to combat back into exploring, and the action combat itself is said to be an amalgamation of all the good of reloaded and royal with new mechanics added we have never seen.

When I get some footage of it I’ll post it

Instead of high jacking others topics with persona I and anyone else can just post here whenever any new stuff comes to the surface

Here’s the full demo it’s the first 30 minutes of the game. It’s in Chinese obviously. If you’re familiar with the game it ends with the first real boss battle

There’s two awakenings in this demo the protagonist is at 4 minutes and his little friend is after his mini boss fight against his mirror self at 15 minutes if you don’t want to see them

I started to play the game on PC not long ago and then found out that this version is coming out soon. Decided to wait for this one.

100% the right call

It’s aged worse than 3 and they are pulling all the stops for this. To not clutter other threads I will be posting any news we get or update in this one until its launch in February.

We should be getting a steady stream of stuff.

Like I only found out about they did a demo in China (Random as frick) because I know someone who did Qa on it about 9 months ago so the build he played wouldn’t be worth much

That video is in Chinese and kinda hadd to to watch but they have the classic fully high quality animation cutscenes persona is known for in there but the moment to moment gameplay is also all hand animated and it looks fantastic

Persona 4 is a very very very dark story

Also I think Izanagi, the stater persona for the MC in4, is the coolest out of Arsene from 5 and Orpheus from 3

If you don’t mind some very very light early spoilers watch the scene starting at the 23ish minute mark when it shows off the first real boss against Kiris shadow.

It looks breathtaking

I’m pumped as hell for this, but I’m purposely avoiding all gameplay and preview videos. I want a first-time feeling lol.

P4 Golden is one of my all-time favorites and if it’s anything like P3 Reload, we are in for a treat.

Reloaded was what I would consider an extremely high quality remaster sprinkled in with some elements from Royal like batton pass and needed quality of life like being to do direct commands for your whole party which most likely don’t know you couldn’t do in the ps2 versions of persona 3 and persona 4 you only had full control over the protagonist.

From what I know for my friend who did bug and stress tests on the game over 9 months ago so definitely an out of date build Revival will carry over all of that but go further into remake territory but not all the way; principally by adding things to spice it up both in dungeon crawling exploration and combat that we have never seen before neither in royal or Reloaded

In terms of favorites for persona 3 is my favorite of them. IMO it has the best story and is more difficult than Royal, and has a very sad and poignant ending to its story.

4 however is by far the darkest and most serious or what you would call adult of the bunch. I also really like the concept of the main cast of characters having to actively fight their own shadows in order to forge their personas (other than the protagonist who Izanagi just comes to I won’t explain why for spoiler reasons.)

This was never the case in 3 or 5; how the main party dealt with their shadows they simply just harnessed the persona kind of completely disregarding the entire yin and yang of the shadow/persona dichotomy which in turn cheapens both Makoto and Ren respectively since as the tricksters it makes sense only for them to not have to overcome that aspect of wielding personas

Was able to get Elizabeth down on merciless, the super boss from persona 3 reloaded. Took a good bit of trial and error but all in and all heartless joker is much more demanding.

If anyone struggled with it and needs a strategy here it is, finally got a capture where I clear it.

To fight her in case anyone doesnt know you dont have to every single request you must do the request for the reaper then youll get the request for the ultimate adversary. Go to the last monad door and go to the very bottom she will find you lol

Short video atlus just put out detailing some of the new things in this game when you’re exploring the TV world as well as new combat mechanics that are built off the work they did in reloaded and p5

Specifically when dungeon crawling you still initiate fights like in p3 but now there is guard feature so if you are about to be hit first you can guard parry the shadows attack and turn what would have been an ambush into an advantage state as you enter the battle mode

During battle batton pass is brought over but they added two other mechanics as well;

One is called send flying, which you can use on a shadow that is afflicted with a status ailment to spread it to all other shadows on the enemy side

Lastly a new feature called prime time is added; a meter will be displayed on the right of the screen in combat and whenever it is filled (not clear what fills it) you can enter prime time and gain access to skills otherwise you can’t use or use your normal skillls but their HP or SP cost drop to 0

You can then finish with what the video calls a “prime time finish” which appears to be what I speculated were synergy attacks in the original trailer

The entire package definitely looks like way more polished up than reloaded was.

Unfortunate news to bring today.

Atlus will in fact be censuring some of the original game to certain degrees for “a modern audience”

Yosuke voice lines to be changed

quote:

“He’s a little bit insensitive in terms of how he treats outsiders sometimes,” Wada explained. “So we wanted to lighten that up and make it a little bit more fitting for the world we live in now.”

If you’re unfamiliar with the game he is the “best buddy” acrchetype in the game. Similarly to Ryuji in 5 and Jenpeui in 3.

This is stupid for them to do, but it’s not a huge deal. They did some of the same minor tweaks to reloaded. Especially with the shower cutscene. Just hope it doesn’t bleed over into other parts of the game

Yukiko sizzle real put out a few hours ago by Atlus. Imo she seems to have benefited the best from the ones they’ve shown so far.

I assume this will be the last of these sizzle reals now that the main 4 have them I doubt they’ll spoil party members beyond that

The new all out attack animations are fricking sickkkkk

About 30 jrpg YouTubers and people in the space including the FF scene where flown out to play a 8 hour slice of the game.

I know one of them from being big into FF. Obviously he played under an NDA so I couldn’t really get any specifics just his generalized thoughts so I’ll put them here

The game is a much larger overhaul of persona 4 than reloaded was for persona 3

The animations are industry topping quality especially in combat. Said they dwarf even p5 royal.

There are a good amount of new systems brought to persona for the first time. 2 of which we were shown in the video above but there are more including character specific ones.

The voice acting is extremely good.

The balance of the game is the best it has been pitched in a persona game yet. Including 5 difficulty options from story all the way to heartless

Negatives:

The dungeon crawling is slightly improved but still tedious

For players who have never played a persona game before this game is very likely to make them feel extremely overwhelmed due to the sheer number of simultaneously operating mechanics and systems both old and new

Two scenes from the original have been censored to varying degrees
