I'm so fricking pissed right now, put the new mobo i and it lit up for a second and then shut down, that's all I could get it to do, put the old mobo back in and now that's all it will do so I guess something got fricked up. This is why I knew I should have left well enough alone.

GOT DAMNIT, I just found my proplem and now I have to pull the old MB and put the new one back in, fricking noob mistake.

On the bright side, it wasn't a dead board.

If it makes you feel any better, I'm sure every single one of us has pulled something similar at one time or another. I know I've done that exact same thing before

Installed it correctly and it still didn't work, either something I have is not compatible or the board is bad. Old board back in and working.

OK I am done tinkering, I could go more but I'm gonna stop here. BTW I am sorry to say the MOBO I offered will have to be removed since the z77 didn't work, sorry about that.

Yes, I wish it would have worked though.

Did you get a dead mobo or did something happen in the build process? Mobos are always the most nimble of parts

I think you mean fragile or temperamental. Lol
They can be kind of easy to screw up. I made that mistake but its probably more likely that his was doa.

Fragile! Thats the word I was looking for but I couldn't think of it

When are you getting your benches in? I want to see how that 670 compares to the 7950/7970s

Edit- Nvm I see them

did not change the voltages. like I said I could probably OC my processor a bit further, just don't feel like fooling with it right now.

I know, but all chips have different voltages. Run prime for a minute or two to see where its at

I could only get to 4ghz and keep it stable, I'm guessing it's because of my mobo or my power supply. A few people have gotten it as high a 5.7.

I oc'd my ram to 1600 (high as I could get it) and bumped my 7950 a little bit, with a new mobo and power supply I could do a lot more, but I'm not spending any money right now for things I really don't need at this point.

You have a 650 watt power supply, right? Thats not a problem (you could run xfire with some cards with that big of psu).

What cooler do you have, and have you changed any voltages?

I upped the voltage to get it from 3.3 to 4 and tried increments beyond that but it was unstable. I am only air cooled right now but the system is well ventilated and temp was not the issue, I kept an eye on that.
