I've got some serious rattle in my computer, it comes and goes, but when it's rattling that shite is loud. What places should I check besides the fan?

Besides all fans, maybe a really loud hard drive about to kick the bucket?
Posted on 11/7/14 at 11:16 pm to ILikeLSUToo
I hope not, my computer is less than a year old

Doesn't matter when it comes to hard drives. If it hasn't failed yet, it will fail within the next 15 seconds to 15 years.

Great, well hopefully its just a fan, only does it when doing something that's a little taxing on the computer. Like games

Sounds like a fan then. Higher rpm's under load and thus the noise.

What's the best way to figure out which fan?
Your avatar is also very distracting.

Might have a screw loose somewhere
Posted on 11/7/14 at 11:44 pm to ZacAttack
How many fans do you have? Should be able to pinpoint the general area with your ears. Go in and just tighten all the screws and test.

There's 3. Okay, I didn't know if I could just run one fan at a time to see which one it was or something.

always keep the CPU fan running, obviously. If it's rattling when you do something intensive, then it has to be a fan that's actually set on a curve rather than run straight to molex or otherwise set to a static rate. Some cases come with molex-only fans, so it's worth asking which fans other than CPU are actually speed controlled.
EDIT: It is safe to disable all case fans and just leave the CPU fan (and GPU fans) running for diagnostics purposes.

Welcome back
I didn't like the manual save points. I'd die and realize I haven't saved in a while. Just don't have enough solid blocks of game time for that to be worth my time.

Yeah its sort of annoying.
Shadow of Mordor became repeatative and BL:tPS feels too much like BL2 to hold my interest.

I'm just playing COD Advanced Warfare until AC Unity and Far Cry 4.
Posted on 11/9/14 at 12:45 pm to LSU Coyote
Sounds about right. I've been playing destiny and far cry 3. I'm probably getting gtav this month.

I have an AC68 and AC66 both on Merlin firmware. Once you get into wiring up your home, a solid router and switch are addictive.
Edt: idk wtf happened but believe I responded to an older post on my phone.

I'll probably get that new router soon.

NVIDIA released new drivers for AC Unity today. I think I'll play AC Unity a little bit before installing the new drivers tomorrow, just to see if it improves anything. I'm skeptical as to whether these timely driver releases are all a sham
