everyone has their favorites, but truthfully any modern TIM will do if properly applied. Some people swear by AS5, while others think its old junk. I have used noctua's stuff and it is fine.
good idea. a while back I had to go to radioshack and get raped up the bunghole for a few mls of AS ceramique.
Coyote,
what made you pick the sm8 over the st10? thnx

For TIM, you can't go wrong with the top 10 (arguable top 15 or top 20). I have several different brands of those that are deemed "good" and the temperature differences are too negligible to measure on a single machine.
I also have tons of cheap paste that comes with various heatsinks and blocks. I never use it because I always have a supply of the "premium" shite.
The paste that was used on the delidded 4770k (in the video a few pages back) is intriguing. Looks very watery.

Just for the smaller form factor. It will still fit XXL and extended boards.

One of those big-arse case-labs cases is on my list of shite that I want to buy, at which point I will redo my loop with bigger rads and dual pumps.
Things I might buy in the next 12 months:
1600p Korean (nobody mentioned here if they had any experience with one, or if they are worth it at all)
Caselabs case
Socket 2011/IB-E
Another D5 and small res so that I can cool CPU and video cards in separate loops. Will probably get a 480 rad for each loop.
But to have all that I might need to upgrade my desk space. And to upgrade my desk space, I would need to upgrade my house.

As a watercooler, you will love and enjoy working with a CaseLabs.

you talking about the cool lab liquid pro? I still have a syringe of it in my closet to delid my 3570k. Just never got around to doing it. apparently it is a liquid that you need to spread around very thinly. when you heat it up it actually fuses the lid to the die for optimal thermal interface. check out LINK
but several things this guy does that I would not. don't use a giant box cutter. use a thin single or double edged razor blade. do not do any prying motion. do scrape off the old thermal glue as the cool lab liquid is technically thinner than tim pastes. do not use a metal thing to spread the cool lab. I also don't feel really good about putting my cpu pads down on a paper towel. I would not thrash my cpu at 90C for 10 minutes in the stock test.

90C for 10 minutes probably won't hurt anything, but I agree with the rest. His method was too crude and scary for me. And when he started running that metal scraper across the die, I was like wtf. People have killed their CPUs with the boxcutter method like that. Giving themselves too much force and leverage because they're not patient.
I've never done it before, still not sure if I'd ever want to.

I think you would be fine if you used a very thin cutter like a DE or SE razor or exacto knife. As soon as i saw that thick arse box cutter I was like this dude is retarded. the implement doesn't have to be that sharp, you are just cutting through a little glue. I haven't worked up the nerve to do mine yet and now I am buried in school work. plus I hate taking off my nh-d14. thing is huge.

Anyone happen to have a free Arkham Asylum cdkey? I've never played it (skipped straight to Arkham City), and I'm having trouble getting a pirated version to run. My video card drivers crash before I even get to the main menu.

It's been on sale a lot lately, it's pretty cheap.

I go ahead and throw this one out there. I want to build a computer for my AUTOCAD/Gaming since that is the only thing I will do on it (since everything will be handle by Mac Mini. SO I am looking for some ideas what I can do. My budget is about 900 for now. Thanks
