Nope, didn't know that. I'd read very little about delidding because I had no need to do it with my SB, and I haven't used EK blocks. That's interesting... I void warranties frequently, but usually in an easily reversible way.

I am still considering getting that sapphire 7870 ghz to crossfire with the one I already have. I have an asrock extreme 4 mobo so does that mean my pcie lanes with not be x16 and instead work as x8 with crossfire? Or do those cards not use that feature yet anyway?
Posted on 6/8/13 at 12:40 pm to Mr Gardoki
Its limited by your processors, but some mobos have chips that artificially make x16/16.
On your extreme4 your probably x8/8
On your extreme4 your probably x8/8

Is that enough reason not to crossfire?
Posted on 6/8/13 at 12:53 pm to Mr Gardoki
Yeah, it will be x8/x8 without the PLX chip. You will not notice a difference between that and x16/x16.

What?
Those 7870s won't use full x16 lanes. TBH he won't notice a difference one would think.
ETA:
Let me restate.. "won't take full advantage"

That's what I said.
Edit: my "yeah" didn't mean "don't crossfire." I didn't notice his post above mine. Of course you can crossfire. I'm running fricking PCIe 2.0 x8/x8 and I'm crossfiring two 7970s. As far as I know, no card on the market can saturate x16, let alone x8. Unless, the Titans can?

shite you're right.. I read right over that.

Doing some further research it appears correct that I wouldn't notice a difference if any. Apparently there is about a 2% difference with pcie 2.0 but none at 3.0

Nothing really takes advantage of 3.0 yet in everyday gaming. It shows up on benchmarks but that is it. Only in the extreme side of the spectrum and 3/4 way setups.

That's what I found. I'm still debating though. I could always get this card cheap later as prices go down, I don't really need crossfire for anything right now.

On that topic, I had edited my previous post to ask you whether any of your dual GPU cards had noticeable gains/losses between 2.0 and 3.0 or x16/x16 and x8/x8. Or have you tested it? I'm sure you have a PCIe 2.0 board to test your titans.

Aren't you going 1440p?

IDK.. Titans, 780s and 7990s might take benefit on x16. I know it reflects on benches. Just seen ppl run SB-E before and after the custom BIOS to unlock x16 lanes.. makes a difference there.

I could do that.. but they are already blocked and watercooled. Refer to my answer above this one.. that will answer your question without us even testing! lol

Not yet, probably eventually. I just started gaming at 1080 in march so I am enjoying that.

I need a new mouse..
Currently have a Razer Mamba but it is starting to wear. I have been waiting for the Ouroboros from Razer for what, 6months?
LINK
Doesn't seem like it will come anytime soon. Currently waiting on the Ducky Shine III to sale for a new keyboard but at a lost on mice. There really isn't much out there with the option of wireless and wired.
Any suggestions?

On that note I did see a 4k tv this past week in Vegas. It was cool but not worth the price yet. With a pc that may be different. It made a huge difference with text.

Yeah TVs I don't really care because the content wont be there. With monitors, pretty excited.
