Almost had a XFX 290x for $330 on ebay before somebody sniped it at the last minute for 335. Sad face.
Hmmm... wonder how much leakage that card has now from mining?

I'm sure it hasn't ran at 94c for the last 6 months straight.

Yeah probably was a good guy and kept it under 93C.

I remember running my single 780 Lightning last year while upgrading the main rig and noticing that slight stutter which comes with SLi/CFx being totally removed
This is exactly how I feel with the 290 compared to the CFx 7950s. It's almost as fast, but without the bullshite. CPU still can't keep up with it.

It really is, that is why anything over 2way SLi/CFx is silly unless you really need it to push frames at crazy resolutions.
EDT: I'm still super impressed with the 290. What a great damn chip for its price point.

The Intel chip factory in Chandler, Arizona was christened by President Barack Obama.
In 2012, while it was under construction, the President made a pit stop at the plant, known as Fab 42, painting it as a symbol of American optimism. “The factory that’s being built behind me is an example of an America that is within our reach–an America that attracts the next generation of good manufacturing jobs,” Obama said.

I was reading lots of stuff about mining cards and why it isn't as bad to buy them used as people think.
Video cards are designed to run at high temps for long periods of time, so all that's being warn down are the fans. Mining off and on for hours at a time is far more damaging to a card than mining on it consistently

me too. I haven't even really overclocked mine to it's potential either. I run at stock clocks and it's crazy fast at everything I play.

Yeah I guess from expanding then contracting at one extreme often.
None the less I still remember how my hardware performed before and after folding. It still degrades.

OCing my cards is the first thing I do when turning on a rig, lol.

Hey, my core temps are never above 75c and VRM1 and VRM2 sensors rarely hit 60c.

Posted on 5/1/14 at 3:03 pm to brucevilanch
That's about the same as my card, but my fan rarely goes over 50%
