Well I don't want to get my hopes up too much but if it is all in good working order when I get it yea it's pretty badass.
Also, they have some very nice salvage laptops on there. I am thinking about buying one of the auctions (usually 5-10 laptops for $100) and ordering the replacement motherboards and parts from some place in China I found on Alibaba.com. The parts are dirt cheap. I would do it just to fool around with and sell them as refurb on Amazon or ebay maybe. I have plenty of spare time right now.

we quit doing that (ordering from China off alibaba) because they sent us the wrong part and then would not pay for return shipping. kept telling us it was a "compatible" part but they arent really. it was one of those deals where HP has a line of laptops and while several boards might actually fit, only the exact board will fit w/ all features. we ordered the exact board, they sent us a "compatible" board. they then put up a massive fuss and just kept sending us broken english emails about how the board will work.
now that might not be an issue for you since you are just going to resell them but as for replacements/repair i would avoid it.

Thanks. What do y'all do for parts now?
Posted on 5/20/13 at 9:38 am to stout
ebay, North America only. sometimes we pay a bit more for parts, but it is so much easier to get/stay in contact with a seller and do return shipping if necessary. i think it pays off in the long run, especially if you consider time spent in the equation.
TBH in cases of bad boards, unless the laptop was of very high quality in the first place, we recommend our customers just buy a new one and we do the data transfer. as a result ive got about 200 dead laptops sitting in tubs in our store room.

Yea I would do some research before I jumped in it but if you could get something like this for $100
I bet you could part it out on ebay and make a little change off of it.
That's one of the upcoming auctions. Of course since it's Apple I am sure someone else that is parting stuff out on ebay will be all over it and it will go for more than $100.

5 Apple titanium G4 Laptop Mixed models, all are missing LCD Screens, incomplete bottom, see pictures.
25 Apple LCD Laptop Screens, mixed condition, most have Apple backs. Cosmetically appear to be in good condition, untested.
45 Apple rechargeable Laptop batteries. These were taken from working laptops but are untested and are sold as salvage. Mixed models.

yeah i bet that goes for quite a bit over $100. those big lots like that are just a gamble, depends on what kind of working capital you have and how risk adverse you are.
we bought a pallet of off-lease dell mini towers last year. about 1/3 either had a dead psu or expanded caps.

Just got the e-mail that my stuff shipped. Waiting on UPS to update their site for when it will be here. Guess I need to find a cheap LGA1155 chip to use for testing those MOBOs.

Alibaba is such a janky site. Very easy to get screwed.
Its great if you can get legit sellers though.
Stout, you can probably part the mobos for $225 and the 7870 for $180ish. Grabbed you a free 7870

About what I figured. I am going to keep the 7870 OC for a bit and fool with it but I know I will sell it soon too.
They have a package with a 7950 and an AM3+ MOBO about to close on there right now. Some other junk in the package too. I am hesitant to dump more money until I get my stuff in and see how it all goes.

Shoot, if you don't have any problems, I may have to look into it (with my dads small business)

I think I am going to pick up a used Corsair HX 750 I found on a local classified tomorrow. I am close to having a very nice second build now with all this stuff.
I just spoke to the guy and it's 6 months old in good shape and he has all the packaging and manuals.
Is $60 a steal? They are $119 or so new so I feel $60 is great as long as it's in good shape like he says.

Let's hope that puts the 770 in the $450 range
Posted on 5/21/13 at 1:10 pm to Srbtiger06
$449 is what the article predicts for the 770

I could've bought 3 780s for the price of 2 Titans.
That is what you get for E-Peening.

its not like the titans have lost much value, you can probably sell them for nearly the cost of 3 780s once they become available in the US.

Yea but stuttering, artifacts and the problem with scaling always cripples something in 3 to 4 SLi. Hell nVidia doesn't even officially support 4 way SLi.
