I wish I could see screen shots of 1440 vs 1080 but that doesn't do any good on a 1080 monitor

Makes games look amazing. 1440p on a 27" monitor is the perfect size

I think so too Blue.

First I switched from those 23" IPS LGs you had to a 27" Korean. What kept me away from ordering was the thought of it being too large.

Was surprised to find out it is the perfect size for a gaming experience.

Still too marginal of an upgrade for my tastes. If doing it to test the NVidia waters, fine, but not to prepare for next gen -- modest GPU performance increase, but still going from a 2GB card to a 2GB card today for the purpose of upgrading... not a good plan.

Not in preparation for next gen, in celebration of already being ahead. In other words, master race for life!

Well... tbh, 2GB is enough for mid tier cards. If you need over 2GB then you will be gimped by processing power. You would need to Tri-SLi / Cfx for any sort of respectable frames.

For about the same amount of money, he is getting a little upgrade. Not much but something.

Just did a bunch of sleeving for my 900D build. I have 1/4, 3/8, and 3/4, all 2:1. I might have some 1/8.

What size and how much of it do you need

Precisely my point.

But I am just not one to upgrade GPUs often because of the massive expense for marginal improvements, and selling PC hardware has been a pain in the arse up until I started posting here. I generally double my performance with every Gpu upgrade. So, 7970s are going to be with me for a while.

Most likely 1/4. 3/16 was too small for the double pin cables

Put the heat shrink on the end of needle nose pliers and stretch it. It does not affect the size after applying heat. I did that for nearly every cable I sleeved.

Some guy called my phone at 5:30 this morning looking for an Elizabeth.

Me: Nah... I just left Elizabeth in the shower can I help you?
Him: Umm...say what!!!
Me: Man, I'm just fricking with you. You have the wrong number.
Him: Chuckles in relief...that was a good one. I deserve that for calling you at 5:30 AM. Sorry about that.

I like getting wrong number calls just to pull shite like that.

Any thoughts on the 780s? My boss's kid has his heart set on one, and I can fit it into a nice $1500 build. The MSI Lighting edition looks like its paint scheme even matches the Asus v Pro boards.

I have one, awesome card and the air cooler is quiet. Seeing that Lightnings are $549 compared to the $769 I paid 2months ago, hell of a deal.

Tell the kid he wants a Titan and I will have 2 for sale for $750 when the Tis launch.

ETA:
Plus the LED lighting on top the card could be cool for a kid. You can change the color and also how it displays.

Well the kid
a) will not buy used
and
b) wants to order ASAP

kid got a good job and as money literally burning in his pocket. funny thing is i doubt he will play anything other the LoL and ES:O

why dont these companies think about us anal folks who want paint schemes to match? Asus cards have red badging and most of their z87 boards have yellow heat sinks

Is this kid me?

FYI.. ASUS cards are 2nd Tier when it comes to nVidia. EVGA and MSI, no other exceptions.

He is going iTX or ATX?

If the kid wants NVidia, the 780 would be a good buy at its current price. The Lightning is a great price. If I had to buy new cards today and they had to be NVIDIA, the 780 is the only card I'd consider.

He's gonna get some mad frames in Oblivion.

Not even a 780Ti @ $699 with 2880:240:48 w/ 3GB?
