I'm actually very positive. I can come off as negative in posts.

have we talked about this yet?

Barely beaten by a Titan, but nearly half the price. It wins for now. Hopefully Maxwell will give me a reason to overspend, though.

The Titan needs to be $700. The 780 needs to be $550 or lower now.

ETA: But really, I doubt even Maxwell will be enough to make me switch. I will want an upgrade, and my idea of an upgrade is a single GPU solution that, at stock, beats my overclocked 7970s. It will be a while.

When overclocked, the 780 is consistently faster.

Apparently there's not a whole lot over overclock room with the 290x, with the reference card anyway. The 290x is a lot cheaper tough.

Damn. No time to watch that at the moment. What's the average stock voltage of the 290x? If it ain't overclock friendly because of voltage ceilings, that's a deal breaker.

EDIT: I just realized it's still using the 8-pin + 6-pin connection, so 300W is the max TDP. I would've expected two 8-pins this time around for a flagship card. Water coolers would've been able to pull ridiculous amounts of power from it. Not impressed. This is just a cheaper option for what's already out there. Sadly, it's what I was expecting subconsciously. I'll go ahead and say that Maxwell will be incremental and expensive as well, regardless of new architecture and technology that's still too young to translate to raw performance.

He's more hidden about it than other people, though. He gave lots of praise to the 7950/7970

I agree, he isn't bad but i can just tell he is a nvidia guy. Just watched the video and while the 780 beat the 290x well at 1080, at 1440 they were about even.

I'm an Intel fanboy for CPUs and somewhat of a Samsung fanboy for SSDs. Everything else is determined on best bang for buck.

3D mark, I haven't touched the system in 1.5 years other than drivers.

I need to upgrade my PSU and add a 2nd 7950.

What is your CPU again? You are on Sandy right?

I was talking to ILikeLSUToo about my problems with the 4930K and this new 2011 board. It needs a BIOS update with a fricking SB-E chip, wth! So the thing is giving me all sorts of fits when benching or gaming. I can't really OC because of the BIOS.

Anyway, what i'm getting at.. I believe I will finally pass the 25K 3DMark11 P score for the first time. A little pumped... but we will have to wait another week.

Yep...

8pin = 150w
6pin = 75w
MOBO = 75w (Normally)

300w hardware limitation.

Damn Titans have the same handycap. You can always push more by overclocking the PCI bus.

Fixed it for Linus and yourself Bruce.

Titan can't drop that low.. not with those 24modules of 30nm Samsung on front and back. It is honestly an $849 card.

IMO This is how it should lay out.
Titan - $849
780Ti - $649
780 - $549 <--This needs to happen the most.

Then DROP THE PRICES OF THOSE DAMN GK104 Little Kepler GPUs!!!!!
