I tried and have last remnant remastered downloaded. Maybe I had taken too much Xanax that day or something but I couldn’t figure how combat works. In the very first opening scene tutorial. Story sounds really good
It's definitely got some unique gameplay. I would just recommend sticking with it, you'll be able to wrap your head around it after playing it a bit.

I mean can you give a tip or too? It’s been a while maybe a year since I tried it I downloaded it on sale with the resonance of fate remaster (Another game everyone should buy, a jrpg with guns and mini rts combat encounters) and it didn’t even have a combat menu I can remember. Certainly not one like FF or Dragon quest

Also I really loved cold steel but man the 1st one is an absolute chore to get through until the seriously perfect ending that catapults the next three into amazing

If you haven’t played them I highly recommend the Yakuza series, would start with 0 and I believe it’s on Gamepass.
Really like 7 as well but the turn based is a little hit and miss.

I haven’t. No one has ever probably explained to me. Someone told me it’s like Witcher 3 meets Japanese mafia is that accurate

I would also recommend them. Yakuza is excellent.
It's not like most open world games. They do have a much smaller open area for you to explore but it's very deep. You can enter many of the buildings and there are tons of side quests in the part of town that you are in. Combat is more like a action game/brawler.
