Angry rant from a fanboy

quote:

Hello.... Is there anybody out there who remembers San Andreas?

You know... the game that had the casino, house burglaries, nitrous oxide, muscle and weight gain, recruitable gang members that could do drive-bys with you, various properties to live in, destruction derbies, bars, restaurants, pool and REPLAYABILITY.

Ring any bells? Then why the f*ck have you given this garbage 10/10?

There is NOTHING innovative and new aside from the character switching system, it's lacking features that were even in GTA games 11 years ago.

Back in 2004, I imagined that by now we'd be able to customise our apartments, create our own gangs, have a story that dynamically changed throughout depending on our choices, be able to go in at least 10% of the buildings, destructible environments, a lot more methods of making money, real interaction with pedestrians that made them feel more human, multiple dialogue choices, a lot more properties to live in, and actually KEEP EVERYTHING THAT WAS IN SAN ANDREAS.

But good old George Lucas.. I mean.. Rockstar, got lazy in 2008, they stripped out a ton of content and thought they could fool people into loving a game almost purely on graphics. Well... turns out they did.

Imagine you had a wife for a few years, with the best personality, fun to be around, Michelin star level of cooking ability, amazing sense of humour, pornstar level in the bedroom; then one day you wake up and she looks like model.

She's never looked so good, but there's something missing.. She sucks at cooking but can still make toast, lost all her sense of humour but occasionally cracks a smile, and it's hard to get a conversation out of her, unless she wants to go bowling.

What the f*ck Rockstar, now almost every game developer has got lazy.
Let's just hope that Naughty Dog make an open world game soon.

will it save the plane in the hangar though?

No idea.

I'll try that tomorrow. But walking and driving around the base to explore it and not get your arse shot and blown up is kinda nice.

The next GTA I'm hoping there will be a new approach with the characters. Every game, you have to work your way up to the top to make money, create a network/empire and etc. I want the next game to have the characters be already incredibly powerful and the focus of the game should be maintaining that power in an ever changing world with new players coming onto the scene. Enough with building up a character, let's try a powerful character and an empire/power to maintain.

I also want more spec ops like missions. The raid to steal the nerve agent was badass with having to break into the facility underwater and cutting the cage. You know Delta Force and Devgru do shite like that on the reg.

Oh NOW I beat the story. Outstanding! And yes, this game is amazing but there could be tons more stuff added to it. Time to play the stock market though.

Which option did you choose?

I chose C obviously because I didn't want to lose anybody and what they could do.

Currently on top the crane on the skyscraper wrecking havoc with my sniper rifle. Cops can't find you up here

Eta: also rig a bunch of sticky bombs by the entrance to the construction zone. Cops come in to look for you = boom.

I somewhat agree with the rant. While I love the game, the more I play of it, the more I start to think about what it doesn't have and the endless missed opportunities. Rockstar has created this amazing world, characters, and game mechanics. I can't help but feel there is so much untapped potential of what they could have done to really make the game a true masterpiece with endless replayability.
