Opinions on Avowed?

I picked up Avowed awhile back on sale on my PS5 and finally got around to spending a couple of hours with it. So far I am really enjoying it. Has anyone else played this and have any opinions of it? Seems like I remember reading some negativity about it awhile back, but can't remember what it was related to.
So far the game feels like an improved Skyrim set in the Pillars of Eternity universe. I'm enjoying the combat and the story to this point, but again I'm only a couple of hours in...

I haven’t played it, but the critique was that it was almost insultingly basic and bland. Nothing interesting, no personality. And a release price of $70.

Bare bones RPG. I think they did patch in more skills and more skill points. I wasn't interested in playing at release. It has the same exact color palette of Outer Worlds. Very vibrant colors but some people complained they just used assets from Outer Worlds. I seem to recall hearing the companion quests are a bit lame. Dialog can be a bit weak but the gameplay exploration and combat are fun.
If you played Pillars of Eternity and like lore then the game builds on that lore. Cohhcarnage and Mortismal Gaming liked the game a lot. Both are huge POE fans. Both don't care about liberal politics. Not that there is any in the game but once again a woke game dev wouldn't shut up before release and I think he hurt the sales.
I'll pick it up one day on sale. Deep discount sale. Not interested in paying more than $30.
Oh, some folks didn't like it because they didn't think the world was immersive. You couldn't change anything. You couldn't break anything. Firing arrows into the water did nothing. You just couldn't interact with the environment so it felt a little hollow to some people. I think they added some tweaks to fix some of that problem with immersion.

Thanks for the info, guys. You definitely can interact with the environment to an extent (containers with a "breakable" icon) but I can already see (to an extent) the "vanilla" argument being relevant.
I am going to spend some more time with it but not sure if it'll hold my attention for the lengh of the game. The first couple of
hours have been very enjoyable, although I think waiting for a sale is definitely a good idea.
