It slow at first, but let the characters, world and situation develope.

Oh, they might also have tons of good side quests... Just maybe.

One of my favorite things to do is hunt for the 4 main school gears.

The best being School of the Wolf because you learn about the history and stories of past Witchers of Kaer Morhen.

How is the combat once you get used to it? Switching to alternate movement made a world of difference to start but I'm not fluid with it yet.

I got to really enjoy the combat once I got the hang of it (this was my first Witcher game to play). It did take time, and a lot of dying, but once you find a play style that works for you, it becomes very natural and very fun.

One thing I was a little bothered about to start is that the quick attack still has a long animation

I think it gets quicker once you get better swords and moves iirc, been a while since I played.

The combat was what turned me away from the game at first, not that it was bad but I was bad at it and never took time to learn it. Im going to give the game another go soon but actually learn it instead of button mash

It took me a while to get it as well. Running around and doing all the question marks and treasure searches really helped me get use to it, because it would just be in the woods and come up against some random beasts or vandals. They weren't that strong, so it allowed me to work on moves and combos. Once you can get the parry/counter down, you'll be good.

This.

It makes sense and actually the best combat i've ever played. The moves, decisions and most strikes feel natural. The combat actually takes skill, unlike games like Batman or Shadow of Mordor.

Not really. In fact the combat was improved and easier to learn over Witcher 2.

I switched from keyboard to gamepad which made combat much easier to deal with.

Heck, I said it would probably ruin future RPGs for me because I loved the combat so much. You actually need a modicum of skill as opposed to nothing but button mashing.

Best combat in a game. Takes knowledge, practice and some skill; just like real life.

I'm having a major problem I'm way too high level for main quest line. I'm in skellige just did missions with ciri and wild hunt with craven. I'm level 25 and the main quests are like 17. And I have many side quests I want to do in skellige. I haven't done any real side quests in skellige accept the ones with son and daughter of jarl.

Also should I play blood and stone after I do main quests or just when I reach level 30? Again problem is I'll be way too high level either way.

You aren't, the boss battles are difficult. What are you playing on?

Play Blood and Stone AFTER you have beat the game IMO.

I'm on highest difficulty. Ive been very diligent about oils, potions and decoctions. I have great recipes leveled up my green abilities and prepare well for fights by reading bestiary.

I've seen a lot of criticism for it. Many people seemed split.

Witcher 3 got criticized for combat? I never saw that. It's one of the things that kept me playing. My favorite aspect of the combat mechanics is that dodge and evade are separate actions. My only gripe is they should've left in the ability to quick-fire signs with dedicated keyboard mapping.

I modded that shtt like 20hrs in. Dumb that quick signs with 1,2,3,4,5 wasn't deflaut.

I'm gonna eventually do a playthrough with a bunch of mods like I did for skyrim. I played the vanilla game other than a reshade/sweetfx inject. I'm sure a modder has devoted hours to making perfect tits for Ciri, and it's only proper that I support this by downloading it.

EDIT: Just checked nexus mods...yep. And, lots of vagina textures. Someone even made a vagina for the goddamn horse.
