Also if you have restore points a lot of the time going back a week or so will fix the problem, if it does still check your drive for malicious stuff.

I'm just going to restore it to a couple of days ago and hope I can finish the download from Steam by 11. Is this the best plan of action?

Yeah, if all you are going to be doing is playing Skyrim you should be ok, but I would still scan the drive when you get a chance.

Download malewarebytes and TDSSkiller
Restart in safe mode with networking
Run TDSSkiller
Run malewarebytes full scan

I restored it to a previous time and it removed the virus and didn't even delete my Skyrim pre-load (which I thought it would). Close call...
