it depends how you want to play the game

i dont really depend on magic too much other than shouts and soul traps. i mainly just hit people with swords until they die, its worked for me

the best way to level up your armor and weapons is by going to the blacksmith in whiterun and making weapons and armor to improve your smithing

the higher your smithing level the better weapons and armor you can build (youtube it)

you should also enchant your armor and weapons (youtube it)

A lot of gates have levers or buttons you have to find to open them. Sometimes they are obscure.

A nice mix of melee and archery/magic is helpful... Different encounters require different tactics.

This is how I roll. My magic is the lowest but I tried to upgrade them all.
