Has anyone heard when the pre-load on steam will start. I know it's only ~ 6 gigs but would like to get the download done.

This comes shortly after it was revealed that the Skyrim install on PC would only take up 6 GB of space

Hmmmm..... the 3.8 gig size has people worried that mayhaps the game is not as big as described.

Only time will tell.

Oblivion was 4 gigs.

Pete Hines has attributed the small install size to Skyrim being "more optimized than we've ever had before. And faster." According to Pete, the better optimization is a result of a "new engine & we're much better at compression

Still the file size seems small to me but I am used to 10+ gig games.

I'm not too worried about this.

(there’s at least 500 variations of quest to try, and around seven times the number of quest-based activities compared to Fallout 3).

350+ primary locations, and sourcing every collectible, trader, unique weapon, and area of interest. To put the sheer size of Skyrim into perspective; Fallout 3 had 115 Primary Locations.

Can't wait.

I got the audio adapter. I now have the monitor hooked up with sound to the Xbox. Only problem is the volume is at 100% and turning the speakers all the way down does nothing.

In game I should be able to lower the volume but until I get ingame the sound is crazy loud.

I got turtle beaches, not the best but definitely better at ambient sounds than speakers.

Depends on when you want to play and what system you are playing it on, imo.

I don't need it at midnight Thursday. Amazon tells me it will be in my hands Friday which is good enough for me. Now if it doesn't reach my hands Friday, I am breaking out the pitchfork and torch.

It will get there Friday, but it may be the afternoon. I have heard of it getting there a day earlier, but either way you will have it on friday.

My opinion

PC and want to play as soon as possible - Steam
PC and want to play on the first day - Amazon or the best reputable deal you can find
Console and want to play as soon as possible - local store.
