Nice breakdown on Elite Premium & DLC:

quote:

What kind of DLC is there?
- MP maps. How many is unclear, probably 4 or 5. Those maps will also be playable on Survival mode
- Gamemodes. With the new Private Match system people can "invent" new gamemodes. You can rate those gamemodes on CoD Elite. When Infinity Ward and Sledgehammer Games see that there's a very populair custom gamemode, they implement it into the public playlists. It's unclear if you got to pay for these, or that they just implement those in an update. But either way, DLC is going to feature new gamemodes
- Spec Ops missions. Everyone asked this for MW2. I think it's awesome!

Ways to get the DLC1. Buy the normal game
Price: 60 dollars for the game, 15 dollar per DLC. 4 x 15 = 60 + 60 = 120 dollar.

You just buy the normal edition of MW3. DLC comes out every quarter. Probably same price as it is now, and 4 or 5 maps. Don't know how they are going to mix the maps, gamemodes and missions in the DLC. Maybe they are seperate, maybe you get like 3 new maps, 1 new gamemode and 1 new mission.

2. Buy the normal game + elite premium
Price: 60 dollars for the game, 50 dollar for elite premium. 60 + 50 = 110 dollar.

The second option is to pay 50 dollars more to get Elite Premium. This means you also get all the DLC. But there's a twist to it. Instead of getting something like 5 maps every quarter, you now get new DLC every month. So every month you get like 1 or 2 new maps, or a new gamemode, or a new mission. All the DLC Elite Premium users get will also be available in the mappacks, but later.

3. Buy the Hardened Edition
Price: 100 dollar.

Not only you get 1 year free Elite Premium, you also get the Founder status in Elite which means extras like new camos. Probably the best deal if you already know you want all the DLC.

After the release of MW3, this is how it's going to be:
Month 1: Elite users will get a new map/gamemode/mission
Month 2: Elite users will get a new map/gamemode/mission
Month 3: Elite users will get a new map/gamemode/mission, and non-Elite users can buy all the maps/gamemodes/missions from the previous quarter
Month 4: Elite users will get a new map/gamemode/mission
Month 5: Elite users will get a new map/gamemode/mission
Month 6: Elite users will get a new map/gamemode/mission, and non-Elite users can buy all the maps/gamemodes/missions from the previous quarter
Month 7: Elite users will get a new map/gamemode/mission
Month 8: Elite users will get a new map/gamemode/mission
Month 9: Elite users will get a new map/gamemode/mission, and non-Elite users can buy all the maps/gamemodes/missions from the previous quarter
Month 10: Elite users will get a new map/gamemode/mission
Month 11: Elite users will get a new map/gamemode/mission
Month 12: Elite users will get a new map/gamemode/mission, and non-Elite users can buy all the maps/gamemodes/missions from the previous quarter

How many DLC will there be at the end of the year?
There will be 20 pieces of DLC at the end of the year. Those pieces can be maps, gamemodes or missions. For the non-Elite users, they will be devided into 4 DLC packs. You'll be able to buy one DLC pack every quarter. This pack will contain 5 maps/gamemodes/missions. Elite-users will get one or two new DLC pieces every month.

So it may not even be maps. That's relatively worrisome for me, since that's really the main/only DLC that I care about.

Survival maps are the same as mp maps. I'm thinking maybe spec ops might be in some dlc. Gamemodes surely won't be dlc, I can't see that. I would guess all dlc will be mp maps and spec ops missions.

From the Elite FAQ:

quote:

If I get the premium annual membership to Call of Duty Elite, do I really get all of the Modern Warfare 3 DLC?

Yes. The annual subscription to Call of Duty Elite is an all-inclusive membership, and that means you get Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 downloadable content, including all of the MW3 map packs and more as part of your premium membership. No need to buy additional DLC.

Well, that really blows.

And the community will create new game modes from the new private party lobbies...the Elite community will vote on them and Sledgehammer will make them public. At least that's what I read today.

Halo Reach kind of has this right now except it is a new map almost every week (or used to be). Haven't played it in a while. The players create maps all the time with the "Forge Mode" and upload them, if a lot of people like them, they release them into the regular rotation of maps. It's pretty cool. If that concept is going to be used for game modes here, I like it.

They had that in Far Cry 2, also.

I didn't know that. I think it would be fun to try game modes from everyone. I'm sure there would be "God" mode variants but there would be some really interesting ones as well. I'm not creative at all, but there are a lot of people that are.

I thought this was probably one of the better written and informative articles on mw3 multi. Give it a read if you have 10 minutes to waste.

Nice find.

More info on some of things Elite Premium subscribers can look forward to:

quote:

Ridley and Tony Scott are creating an exclusive online series called Friday Night Fights that will be part of Call of Duty Elite.

Elite is a new online service aimed at the 30 million Call of Duty gamers. While much of the online content will be free, Activision is offering a premium service with exclusive content that will cost $50 per year. Elite TV will be part of that premium offering.

Ridley Scott Associates’ Friday Night Fights will focus on video game competitions between rival groups like football versus soccer fans, New York Yankee fans versus Boston Red Sox fans, firemen versus cops. Celebrity rivalries will also be featured in the series. The competitors will settle their differences by playing Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3.

Elite TV will also include a premium episodic content from producers Will Arnett and Jason Bateman’s DumbDumb production company, in association with Ben Silverman’s multimedia studio, Electus. One of the shows, n00b tube!, will select user-created videos featuring game play from Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 and provide comedic voice-over “smack talk” commentary from Arnett and Bateman. The second program, Cocked Hammers, will be an animated comedy series.

This online programming will run on a weekly basis and launch this fall in tandem with the November 8 release of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3. Additional original content will be added to Elite TV moving forward.

Found this thread where someone had consolidated all of Robert Bowling's twitter answers to fan questions about MW3.

quote:

-No zombies

-Reduced knife lunge and no commando

-Ballistic vests give a little more resistance to explosives and rounds coming in to hopefully give you that extra sec to cap. Seems to be like giving your whole team the juggernaut perk.

-There will be color blind options for those who need them.

-Reaper is like AC130 where you guide 5 predator missiles to the ground.

-Reset all stats option on the prestige takes you all the way back to prestige 0. Erases all stats and progress.

-Reaching level 80 will be on a different curve than that of MW2. Example- each level probably will not require an exponential amount of XP. Less of a grind at the top.

-Grenade launchers are weakened a bunch and doesn’t get much ammo. All explosives have been nerfed.

-Improved theater mode.

-You can use your prestige tokens to carry over a favorite gun or equipment.

-Only one weapon proficiency may be used at a time.

-Reasoning for leaving final stand in is that death streaks are more rare than a permanent perk.

-Robotic turret can be easily taken out.

-If you die while using the specialist strike package your perks reset to normal.

-16 maps on the disc and if you cancel your subscription to elite after a year you own all DLC that you acquired.

-Headquarters a confirmed game mode.

-Hollow point bullets (Aka stopping power for 1 kill will be a 6 kill death streak)

-If you put a enemy down in kill confirmed and your buddy grabs the tags you get the kill. Both players get XP

-Assault Juggernaut is all about brute force (has LMG + Scavenger) Recon
Juggernaut is defense (has riot shield + portable radar+secondary).

-No combat training ?

-Everything you see in the game at Cod Xp is basically the same as at launch but they will be tweaking it based on feedback.

-Variety of inside and outside maps.

-Report cheater button will be used in-game to send informhttps://www.modernwarfare3forum.com/showthread.php?t=9494ationhttps://www.modernwarfare3forum.com/showthread.php?t=9494 on cheaters to be BANNED!!! Like black ops.

-Attachments unlock as you rank up the weapon’s XP

-You can choose to disable some perks in the specialist strike package so they never unlock (in case it has an adverse affect on what you're going for).

--1 claymore to start.

-They are working on the challenges portion right now. So I am guessing they haven’t finished emblems.

The Russians are the main threat in the game

Team Defender is a new game mode where you grab a flag, run with it, and defend it on the move to score points as a team.

Bare-bones confirmed

Online split-screen confirmed

COD4 servers will never be closed

Unknown. They may get two but that will be all with One Man Army gone.
