I think the overall presentation is really impressive. Music is really good, I think it looks good (I’m not even throwing in “for a switch game”), and the voice acting is surprisingly good considering how many characters there are. Marianne is the only character on the Golden Deer that has cringey voice acting (you could maybe throw in Raphael).
The difficulty and enemy AI is the biggest question for me so far. I did finally have one fight that was more challenging, which is a decent sign.
There’s so much to do. As a counterpoint, some (most?) of the exploration quests are somewhere between mediocre and bad.

The quest are really simple but it's so much fun building your army.

Same here man. Easily my GOTY and favorite FE game.
The music on the paralogues is amazing. I’d link it but Nintendo keeps taking down the OST. It’s BGM 14 for those interested.
Also, I’ve noticed the game drops frames pretty frequently in certain areas of Gerrag Mach Monastery. Is it like that on handheld?

I'm not a frame rate expert, but it definitely has some dips docked or in handheld mode.
It for sure is my GOTY and probably will go down as one of my favorite games ever.

I'm really having lots of fun with the game. Way above my expectations, but I can't quite let this slide. Game looks awful. There are parts where it looks ok (walking around the monastery, cutscenes, etc), but there are so many parts where it looks PS2 level at best. Character models and environments get really messy in combat.
The difficulty hasn't been too bad. I'm having a bit of harder time at the start because so many of the enemies can hit me twice.
It's forcing me to use the rewind feature once or twice per battle.

Saying it’s a good looking game regardless of system is a bit of hyperbole. I like the overall look of the game and the art design, but that’s a subjective thing. It’s obviously not a graphical marvel.
Saying it looks bad or like a PS2 game is also hyperbole though. It’s definitely at its most basic looking during battles, for sure, but the rest of game looks good to me.
With all that being said, I don’t really care about graphics on a game like this. It’s mainly just gameplay loop, story, and music that matters for me.
Biggest flaw is I’m starting to want to skip the exploring because the quests are just boring. Even though I like the hub world.
Difficulty is ramping up a bit. I ran out of rewinds on one fight and let Lysethia (or something like that) die. Ended up just going back and playing the whole thing over again.

Yeah, most of them are just mediocre fetch quests unfortunately. The paralogues are pretty good tho. I only search the monastery to pick up the objects that are in the form of the little blue fog/light/whatever you would call it.

I try and spam them for the reknown. Getting your professor level up has been very helpful so far.

Yeah I do the same thing. I am currently at level B on Chapter 9. I have 7 of those actions points.

All the game’s budget went into the voice actors, art and cutscenes LOL. But forreal, this game no doubt is a game of the year candidate and has a legitimate chance to win it I think.

Just got to HR53 on Monster Hunter World and started my Decorations farming... needless to say - My time on Monster Hunter World is finally coming to an end, I expect to be cranking up my time on Fire Emblem soon

Honestly I feel this is a classic case of nearly extreme sacrifice of graphics for excellent gameplay and presentation in other areas. I cannot put this game down. It hurts.

This game is so good! May end up in my top 10 of all time. The last time I was always thinking about a game when not playing it was The Last of Us.

Just picked my house and did the mock battle. So far this game is awesome. Like a cross of tactics game and persona. Only 2.5 hours in but it is captivating me

I just got it and to piggyback on what everyone else is saying this game is fantastic. When I first saw it and I saw the anime looking students I was terrified this game was going to have a terrible fire emblem fates like story. I've gone with the black eagles and I love my mass magic user squad. The music is incredible, the story is good, and the voice actors are great.
