I need to do the challenge with my two other characters. There's almost no point in doing the whole raid now

Arghhhh don't say this. This is the worst way for others to approach the raid and it will only lead to a lot of incompetent players for the Oryx challenge.
(Not saying you're incompetent lol, but I'm sure there are a lot of others who will just do the challenge and will gain higher light making it appear that they've completed the HM hard and then they'll jump into groups and be terrible. That's what I'm afraid of)

I still haven't beat Oryx on hard but I haven't had a good group for it.

Sadly there are still lots of incompetent people trying to do Oryx on NM.
I have a core group of guys I run with on normal, but this past week we had to get a couple LFG guys to fill gaps. Wasn't worth the time. Had one guy that screamed in his mic the whole way, then says he is a pro relic runner in the Oryx fight. He did something I did not know was possible, being so slow that the ship ends up knocking the runner off the last sets of plates as it comes in with the knight.
After 3 tries, we were done with him.

The Oryx part is really fun IMO when you have a good group. That's happened for me so few times lately though. Not saying I won't do it anymore. Just that I may not always beat it to completion on my 2nd and 3rd characters.
Plus I've been neck deep in MGSV lately so that's not helping
Gardoki when you're ready to do hard mode I'm down to run it.

I'm ready to do it. I've done everything through the daughters. I just didn't have a group good enough to beat oryx. I'll be back on Destiny soon when my daughter gets better.

Challenge mode this week requires everyone in the fireteam to hold the gaze during each damage phase. Note that I didn't say the fight, but each time the gaze is taken, it must funnel through every player.
The lack of a totally different mode has really ruined Challenge Mode, at least for me. Making it where you have the option to do the challenge or not really limits what they can change and ultimately makes these things pretty easy.
Oh and for some reason you get another 320 artifact.

It honestly isn't. Just as long as you communicate when to switch and what not it's not that bad if the group is competent. Even if you have two-three people who are scared shitless to run gaze, just have everyone sit there and shoot the balls with them and have them switch when the time comes.
