Get used to enemies with infinite stamina and poise, while you have neither. I was farming earlier and a knight stunned and two-shot me with 22 vigor (while embered) while he poised though my attacks.

You seem unimpressed with this game

I'd be lying if I said there weren't a few encounters that left a bad taste in my mouth. It feels like this is the first game where the accusation that the games are hard for the sake of being hard has some merit.

That's a shame. I'll let you finish and pick your brain more. Hopefully I can get through demon's some more too.

I'm pretty much done with the game; beaten all the bosses. I'm trying to gather some of the spells and stuff for the achievements - something they've made more strenuous than necessary. They have the stupid acquire all rings trophy like Demon's, but some of them have +1-3 variants like ds2, so you're forced to go to NG+3 if you want to get the platinum. That really frustrates me, and the drop rates are horrible for certain items.

I said screw the platinum for ds2. The game wasn't good enough for that. How do you rank the games now?

DS1
Demon's
DS3
DS2

I'll post my thoughts in the other thread.

Probably just behind DS1. Bloodborne eats DS3's lunch.

I'm pretty terrible at these games, but it does seem like there is an initial learning curve with regards to playstyle.

It took me some time to beat the first boss (the snake-knight) but after that, beating him with other characters became pretty easy.

As a newbie -- dodging, timing movement, and being patient on attack seem like core concepts to embrace in this game.

Two questions:
1) How much farming are people doing? Is there the idea of "level zones" for the game, or are levels used mainly to make the game slightly easier?
I've farmed the high wall of lotharic a few times and am level 16.

2) Any other folks working on an assassin build? if so what are you prioritizing? I'm almost all dex at the moment with a bit of vigor and vitality and attunement.

I've never had to farm in a FromSoft game.

I'm assassin as well. Longsword +4, mostly strength and dex with some points in sorcery and faith to cast some higher sorcerers and pyro. 3-4 points in VIT and END as well

The only farming I really do is to drop my summon sign at bonfires to further explore levels while helping others. I use those souls mainly to just buy shite at Firelink, and just experiment with stuff. This first play through is all about experimentation, for me.

As far as the Usurper ending goes, I hope it means what I think it means.

The NPCs are such a pain in the arse. You find the Sorcery guy in Farron Keep, and for him to stay in Firelink you have to keep bringing him scrolls - which aren't easy to find. He left Firelink and the sensible thing would be to put him back at Farron Keep at least but nope, he's just gone until NG+.

Amazed some of yall have already beat the game. How many hours did it take to beat?

Only thing in this one that I find harder is some of the bosses. Very fast paced and contant attacks. Some times I can barely get off any swings before im dead, or maybe I just really suck. My knight strength build is too slow.

About 35 hours for all of the bosses, levels.
