I’ll never understand why game devs think nerfing player damage is a good path for difficulty. I don’t mind the 3x all that much, though having a 2x tier would be nice. But let me do my damage. Raising the difficulty should require more skill, not just turn fights into slogs.

It's because they're lazy and it's ridiculously easy to implement

Remember Ninja Gaiden Black? Look at how complex the difficulty implementation is: LINK

Each difficulty level had exclusive enemies and reworked item locations and mechanics. You fight late game enemies from Normal in the first level on Hard. Enemy projectile quantities and velocities are increased. Some bosses get adder enemies. Some of the hardest enemies like the Berserker don't even appear until Very Hard or Master Ninja. It made each new playthrough so fresh and engaging.

One of my proudest platinums. Insanely hard

Spent 2k on my first shack outside Imperial City before realizing you get a free castle! I don't remember that in the original

Frostcrag spire near Cloudruler temple is free too

Best view in the game

There’s a free house on like every corner of the map

Never got more than 2 hours into Oblivion originally. This remaster has consumed me. Got some glass and daedric armor last night. Still haven’t started the main story quest 35 hours in

I did cheese a little and increase my sneak to 100 in the cell you start out in and my Acrobatic to 100 by jumping under a sign for an hour.

I’ve been slowly doing those same methods to get those skills up. Does it make enemy difficulty any stronger? I’ve tried to read up on it and it’s been mixed.

You only level up if you sleep, so you can level your skills and raise your overall level at your own pace. Enemy gear scales with level.

This is my first time playing an Elder Scrolls game. I’ve been wandering around not doing much of anything wondering how the level up process works. No wonder I’m still level 1 lol. I have no clue what im doing

Be ready for pain (or just having to bump the difficulty down) if you level all at once. Enemies will go from fur and leather to steel/silver. Then before you know it you'll be fighting backwater bandits wearing full suits of ebony or daedric armor

Also a big jump where you'll go from fighting scamps and clan fear runts at the Oblivion gates to atronoches, dremoras, and daedroths.

well...I was naive and started up the adventure on Expert difficulty. It was taking 6 sword strikes to kill a fricking rat...not to mention barely making a dent in the first bandits I encountered. Had to bump it down to adept and got much more reasonable results. I was about to stop playing due to the absurdity of it until I realized my mistake...now I'm excited to explore.

I've actually stopped playing until there's some interim difficulty between Adept and Expert. Ideally, just add a fricking slider for each setting. I would love to have 2x-3x incoming damage while keeping outgoing damage at 1x. Punish my mistakes, but don't waste my time.

That’s how I feel but I’ll keep playing. Since I’ve never played these before I wouldn’t mind starting over with some experience logged if a significant update is released. The difference between adept and expert is so damn drastic.

Oh I 100% get it. If this were my first playthrough, I would drop it down to Adept and roll. But this is my... third? Plenty of other games in the backlog.

And by "games", I mean I'm playing fricking Civ 6 like a god damned addict

The camera bug with paralysis is super annoying

When you go back into first person, your character is suddenly 9 feet tall until you shutdown and restart the game.

Guys need some help.

I'm on the Where Spirits have Lease quest. I've done it all.

Slept in the bed, got the skeleton hand, got the diary, talked to the guy at the Court arms, talked to people in the imperial city, talked to the bar keep at the king and queen, talked to Velwyn, his disposition is already at a 100 for me.....

But for some reason he won't help me lift the curse....

I haven't tried yet but do I need him there or can I just open the portal myself and complete the quest?

Edit *** also I've had so many quick saves I can't go back to anytime where this scenario isn't happening.

Try lowering his disposition, taking to him, then raising it back up.

I recently did this quest. Took me forever to find the letter on the ground next to the hand

I remember having to go to imperial City to find him. Talk with him there. He returns to the town tavern where you found him to begin with.

Once you talk there you have to walk with him from the tavern all the way to the house and into the basement.

He has to open the door for you then he runs off

oh so he won't agree to help you at the place in the imperial city? It's back at the tavern in the original city?

I'll have to look for him back in the original city in a couple days then
