Honestly, I have no idea.
But let's say AI becomes self aware and self sustaining; and decides to eliminate humanity, it will happen nearly instantly and we'll never see it coming.
We won't be battling cybernetic organisms or building resistance hideouts and traveling in and out of the fricking Matrix or any of that shite.
AI super intelligence will create a super virus that is airborne, ignores climate can survive in any environmental condition, and has a 100% mortality rate within hours.
Hell, the machines may decide to develop the virus to be undetectable and lay dormant until they decide to activate it...like when they have determined every living thing on earth is infected.
That's the end, we will all go, and there’s nothing we can do about it.

I don't know. There's an air-gap sort of defense with any AI's ability to physically interact with an environment. Until it can control enough physical entities with enough precision to do something like this, it would be limited. It could still cause havoc on par with natural disasters (national power outages, kill satellites and internet, etc.).
