Is there a site with a list of specs or are they being mum on them?

Only the Chip name. Nothing about it

I actually think this flattering article is selling short the potential.
Taking aim at apple, google, Samsung but also looking at taking a Wii sized chunk out of the console market. For consumers in both markets. Yikes
That's if it's a tablet. If it's touch screen, if it is hd tablet. Imagine a powerful current gen console, mixed with an iPad mini, mixed with handheld aspect of ds...
I'm not saying that's what it is, but the potential is amazing

Nothing official yet, but given that this system contains a custom SoC from Nvidia, we can get a somewhat accurate idea of how powerful it will be.

Will buy. Looks awesome. Hope BotW isn't held back by any gimmicks, Skyward Sword style

Just saw on twitter they won't have anymore details concerning specs or games until 2017.

Wii U backward compatibility is absolutely out of the question. The Switch's ARM chip won't be able to run code written for the Wii U's Power CPU, nor will it be powerful enough to emulate Wii U software. That said, the hardware should easily be powerful enough for Virtual Console software all the way up through the N64 era, and there's an outside chance that it will be powerful enough to run GameCube and/or original Wii software at those consoles' native 480p resolution.

Interesting in the idea of the system's lack of power to do it, or interesting in that Nintendo would basically chop he Wii U out of existence?

They could honestly remaster all the games worth playing for the he wii u, there aren't that many to worry about
it kind of seems like they are anyway with Mario kart shown in the demo and Zelda obviously being on both. This just means to keep your wii u if you want those games and wii games.

I want one right now god dammit

The big question right now is Smash. That HAS to be coming, especially with the eSports focus. That should be first on their list.
A remastered Melee might be a nice bonus.
I'm also curious about how the success of Mario Maker comes into play. It kind of requires the Second screen, which, when at home is impossible if you're playing the console itself on the television. I guess you could design undocked, the play either docked or undocked, but that sounds odd.
Also Wonderful 101.....102???? No second screen either.

Ugh....No news in 2017??

The Wall Street Journal's Takashi Mochizuki has stated that a Nintendo representative told him there will be "no more official announcements this year on 1) game titles 2) spec details, including region-lock status." Considering that the system is set to launch in April, 2017, that doesn't really give Nintendo a lot of time to hype it up!

My main question is this:
Is this thing basically a Nintendo Hub that houses everything? Virtual Console, my Nintendo account (crosses over), 3DS, DS, everything. (No new portable from Nintendo, this is also the portable)
If it is it will be grand slam for Nintendo and for video games in general.

quote:It lacks the power to emulate Wii U games, which is no surprise, and it can't run them natively because of hardware architectural differences. I find that interesting because I hadn't considered it. As Gardoki said, the Wii U's market was small enough that many of the Wii U's games can be simply re-released with slight improvements and they will essentially be new games to most of the gaming community. For instance, I expect the Mario Kart game they showed includes the Wii U DLC courses, a few new characters, some new vehicles, and a item swapping mechanic so they can call it "Mario Kart Switch." Ugh.

I want to know if it has wireless capabilities, touchscreen, Bluetooth...and touchscreen
if this thing is a tablet and a powerful console and a handheld
the possibilities are endless for Nintendo. they could be taking huge chunks of somewhat distinct markets. it would appeal to many types of consumers.

Agreed. But they will never say this as long as the 3DS is around. Heck they aren't even saying it's replacing the Wii U because they don't want to hurt Christmas sales.
The problem is it isn't clear.
However, one good, maybe really good, indicator is Gamefreak. True Pokemon games are always handheld. Always. If they announce a legit Pokemon, not a Snap or Pokken, then that's a telling sign.
