It's a great concept, but streaming games just isn't viable yet. I only play turn-based games via streaming. Say the Spire is awesome to play on my phone via the Cloud, but also I don't die in that game if there's a lag issue. Games where you need the game to work or you can die due to lag just don't operate correctly with streaming

Yep.

It can work but its not pleasant.

I’m happy I built my PC back in October before prices really got out of hand.

I just want it to be portable and convenient for travel. If it nails that better than Steam Machine, I'm in. Cost isn't really a factor for me if it's a good product

Are they saying its going to be portable?

No, I'm just hoping it's a somewhat similar form factor to the Series X / Steam Machine

Sony is reportedly working on its own dedicated PC launcher for PlayStation games.

>PSN account to play, let Sony keep 100% of the revenue instead of giving a cut to Steam

>Possibly block their titles from running on Microsoft’s upcoming Project Helix hybrid console.

>The first major title to use this approach could be Marvel’s Wolverine.

Sony has not made any official statement yet.

The helix is still a windows machine, they’d have that launcher jailbroken in no time

I haven't tried to do anything crazy, but I have done local (at my house) streaming from my PC to my laptop because I wanted to play BG3 on my porch, so a bit of a middle ground of turn based/real time. I didn't notice any issues at all when in real time, but I'm on a 1gig symmetric connection, which isn't representative of most gamers.

It does work fine when you have a good connection. No argument there.

And even then, I wouldn't want to play something with tight response windows. Even ignoring competitive FPS, trying to parry in Expedition 33 would likely be a masochistic endeavor. But I've started to branch into it a bit more (via Steam Remote Play) when the weather is nice and I want to have a bit more of a vibe gaming session as opposed to a more serious one.

I'm just going to play it safe and stick to turn based type games for now. Gears Tactics and Slay the Spire run great on it. If there's ever lag, I don't come back to a game over screen.

Recent leaks suggest Microsoft’s next-generation Xbox, codenamed Project Helix, could cost around $1,200 but still match the performance of a $2,000–$3,000 gaming PC.

It is expected to use standard AMD RDNA 5 graphics chips inside the largest APU ever put in a console, the chip would be built on a 3-nanometer process.

The new system is designed as a true hybrid, it would play native Xbox titles and full Windows PC games

Microsoft has already confirmed it is working on this first-party console and called it an “order-of-magnitude” improvement over current hardware.

If the details hold up, the console could blur the line between traditional consoles and high-end PCs.

That sounds like it could either change console gaming forever, or completely flop. I'm hoping for the first one.
