New System Shock 3 Trailer: Its a pre-sequel?

So, the original game takes place in 2072, and the second one takes place in 2114
But the trailer says this new game takes place in 2085, even though its called System Shock 3, and one of the developers has said the main characters from 1 and 2 will be in it.
Am I missing something? Feels like they pulled a bait and switch, went from an actual sequel to a middle entry no one asked for

More than likely but we'll see.
As far as I know the remake of the original is still goin strong, but that's a different company

I want to believe that this game will both exist and be awesome, but I’m not seeing it so far. Taking on the task of making a sequel to arguably the greatest video game ever made is a big ask, and nothing I am seeing in that trailer makes me believe that they are up to it. I’ll still check it out, though.

I want them to get it figured out as well but, I suspect it'll be a pile of trash. It's not the same team that made underworld ascendant but, it's the same company, so that doesn't help to give me a positive outlook.

are yall aware that the guys running the studio are Paul Neurath and Warren Spector? they're the immersive sim GOATs, I'm confident they'll put out a quality game.

graphics look dated, but I want another Bioshock so bad, I'll take the sequel to it's inspiration as a "get by"

I know Spector is working on it, but the trailers thus far have been disappointing

Never played bioshock, but if you want a newer system shock esque game there's prey from arkane
