My son is wanting gaming headphones for Christmas. He wants the Turtle Beach Stealth 700 for Xbox one but the reviews have me concerned. Anybody have any personal experience with those or recommendations for something else?
TIA
TIA

I have the wireless Turtle Beach for X1 and they are fine. I would recommend them.

Don't do it...get him some open back Philips SHP9500s with a V-MODA BoomPro mic
Better than any gaming headset you can buy and all for <$100
SHP9500s
V-MODA mic

What do you connect the headphones to?

I guess I was assuming they had an S or X, which has a 3.5mm port which would then just plug into the 3.5mm port
If they have an older Xbone then they just need a $20 adapter

I'm not really interested in him having to deal with a cord. Should have clarified, I'm wanting wireless.

Honest question, are there any badass wireless headsets?
I feel like every headset I’ve seen worth a shite has to plug into a mixamp.

My Sony Pulse has been the best gaming headset I’ve ever owned. Only thing it requires is a dongle plugged into the USB port. It works well on my PC also. Some other features it has is that you can adjust the bass and sound quality on the headset, you can charge it while using it, and it comes with an auxiliary port if you want to listen on a different device. The only negative I can think of is that if you lose the dongle you’re fricked.
I’ve owned Tritons and multiple sets of turtle beach headsets but they never make it past a year with me for some reason. My pulse has been in mint condition for 4+ years and I haven’t had the slightest issue with them.

Can you fade or prioritize game/chat volume? That is the biggest priority for me now.
If I play Fortnite I want to hear the sounds around me so I turn down my party chat somewhat.
Then if I’m playing MLB the Show I’ll crank my chat volume.
It’s honestly life changing

Yes you can. You can adjust game/chat volume directly from the headset by sliding a knob up or down. Sometimes I accidentally slide it all the way to the top to prioritize game volume and wonder why none of my friends are talking on chat

I really like my TB elite 800x besides the mic, but the mic makes it terrible.

May check that out. I love my Sennheisers, but I do deal with a chord cocoon.

Are you on PS4 or Xbox?

Once upon a time, headsets running to the controller were considered wireless.
True wireless headsets bring all sorts of headaches...battery life, frequency interference, way over processed sound.
I'd at least do some reading up on my suggestion before you brush it off

You’re right, but most people don’t care about that stuff It’s no different than having a wireless Bluetooth speaker system or sound bar, and everyone has those.
