I've always been a old school NFS fan and played the shite out of Payback and Heat.
If you have this, what are your thoughts?
Thanks in advance.

I have it on ps5 and I like it. It's not underground and the cartoon effects are gimmicky.. but I've had some fun races. I think it's a wait for sale. I bought it full price and not sure its worth that.

The cartoonish shite completely destroyed any interest I had in it. The graphics look amazing and then they ruin it with that cartoonish shite.

it's an arcade racing game. it's not like it's Gran Turismo.

i'd probably play it.

Which is why every other nfs has that cartoonish crap

You can’t seriously see that gif and think “damn these cartoonish pop ups sure look amazing juxtaposed over this amazing detailed environment” right?

Those animations, to me, bring nothing. I wish I could turn them off.

I will probably play this at some point. I really don't like the Ghost Games/Criterion handling model for open world racing games.
Cars need more weight.
I enjoyed Payback. I played it after the microtransaction debacle was sorted out. It had some atrocious rubber banding though.
I thought Heat went too far in the other direction. I wasn't sure that the racers even had AI in that game.

They had A. There was no I. It was way to easy, even for me who likes things easy. Now, acquiring the endgame engine parts was challenging, even on easy, and I did like the black market stuff.
I've only played the trial version of Unbound (I have 7 hours left), but it is more challenging to win, even on relaxed versions. One thing I do not like, that is very different from Heat, is the daytime races have public traffic. Heat was only at night. Its different but I'll see how it plays out when I do get to the getting through the trial.

I don’t think this game is for teens. There are some pretty vulgar lyrics in the soundtrack. Like, pull a train on her, lick my dick, one song said something about pussy. I mean I can handle straight up curse words like shite and frick and bitch. But that other stuff is bad.

Playing the 10 Hour EA trial. Feels like this is a Ghost Games NFS Heat sequel that Criterion slapped their name on after they were put in charge of the franchise.
I still don't think the handling model fits open world racing. It still feels like Hot Pursuit 2010 which was geared towards wide open highways and long curves.
I did not like the risk vs reward gameplay loop in Heat, and it's just magnified here.
Win races, get money, etc, but you're constantly having to dodge police like it's North Korea.
Then, you'll spend 3 minutes in a race and 15 minutes evading the police when all you want to do is go home and bank your money.
I feel like I am the only NFS player who doesn't give a shite about cop chases and finds them incredibly annoying except for in game modes specifically tailored to playing as cops or running from them.
The AI is back to Payback levels of rubber-banding, except this time the "car-PG elements" are magnified. If the AI has a higher level then you, you will loose and there isn't much you can do about it. Sometimes, position 1 or 2 will finish 30 seconds ahead of the entire rest of the pack.

I started it and have about 3 hrs left.

I did not mind heat, as you could bank money during the day when there were no risk of cop chases. At night, it was frustrating at times, especially to "earn" the ultimate parts. However, I did it and found every single collectable and 3 starred every event.

Man, the Po Po in this game are freaking everywhere. This makes it not fun, to me. So, I agree with this one. Having to bank in the day time sucks too.

I will not claim to be a great driver, but man, they come out of nowhere. I had a 1500 yard lead in one race and they were pushing me for the win by the end. Its nonsense.
