Need advice on ultrawide monitor for under $500

Started at the tech board and someone recommended I post here. I'm in the market to add a monitor to my home office. I usually have 2 monitors, but I'm thinking about making it a lot cleaner and less wires by going with an ultrawide. Someone recommended this Philips one, but I have no clue what to look for in the specs and the reviews aren't the best. I'm not planning on gaming with it, just work stuff like email, Skype, and the occasional YouTube binge. MY company gives us a $500 credit for our home office, so I would like to keep it under that. Curved would be great, but I'm open to flat.
Any help is appreciated.

I have this one at work, the dell 34" Teams curved monitor. The monitor is so wide it does not looked curved, but it is. Resolution is 3440x1440. It took a minute to become adjusted, but this monitor does video conferencing really good.

Also, I have standardized our operation on LG TVs and they make a good ultrawide one too. [link]https://www.lg.com/us/business/desktop-monitors/lg-34BL85C-B
Frankly, if it were company money and got to keep it no matter what, then I would just spend an extra couple hundred and get a really good monitor your eyes will thank you as you get older.

If you read the reviews, most people are complaining about a single feature not working the way they want it to. If that feature isn’t important to you, it’s a great monitor for the price.
Eta: and those are just the user reviews on that site. You should pull up anything you are going to buy on actual monitor review sites.

I recently picked this up when it was a Black Friday sale for like $450 but it's listed at $499 Dell 34 Curved Gaming Monitor S3422DWG
It's not going to be mindblowing for HDR content as it only supports up to HDR 400 but that's OK. For gaming it's not bad at all and it's super responsive at least to me. I haven't noticed the difference between it at the 144hz 1440p panels I originally had. It supports FreeSync Pro.
The bad would be that it's a VA or Vertical Alignment panel which does get it's share of criticism when it comes to refresh rate and response time compared to IPS panels. However playing a game that supports HDR in ultrawide is certainly immersive and I haven't noticed much ghosting after getting the settings just right.
