It is $50 to purchase a "Founder" pack which grants beta access. It seems more games are moving toward the pay to play early access model.

$150 to buy into the alpha and $50 to buy into the beta(they are targeting this month for the beta) right now.
they do have beta sign ups LINK but if they are charging that kind of cash to get in i doubt many signups will be let in for awhile.

ArcheAge contains a Judicial system with player run courts. Players can choose to answer jury summons and judge players who have committed crimes of theft or murder. There are minimum and maximum sentences that are determined by vote among the jurors. The system is a fundamental game mechanic, and not built to combat intentional "griefing" by players. Criminal players are imprisoned and can pay off their debt by working in the prison or trying to escape through digging their way out. Players are able to escape from the prison, however they are unable to use any abilities for the duration of their sentence. The development team has stated they may introduce a bribery system that would enable the accused player to bribe jurors.[13]

I've been playing WildStar, and it is indeed fun. However, if you have an AMD CPU and/or GPU, it's probably best to steer clear of it right now. It needs optimization pretty badly... It's enough that I don't want to play it until I upgrade my processor to an I5, at least.

Dropped the money on archage alpha access last night. You get the points and 3 months of gametime with all the other stuff include so went ahead and did it.

If you spend any money on it at all might be worth it. The monthly fee is like 15 dollars per and u get that time depending on what one u buy. The cash for the store also adds value if u ever buy that stuff. Comes pretty close to being the same price
Beta only runs like 4-5 days at a time though is what I read. Won't be a constant server.

Game is cool
It's a lot like World of Warcraft, but it's got a definite twist with the ability to make your own class.
You combine 3 specialities so you can have a sorcerer/healer type etc or any number of combinations. There are some nice little addons like the different skills/jail/boat warfare.
I am enjoying it. Have a 15 Paladin and 15 Demonologist. (Once you pick your classes it gives you a title)

So I havent had any pvp encounters yet being so low. Have planted some crops and done the starting trade run.
At the lowest level of it it's not really very beneficial. Planted crops over 10-15 minutes, waited 3 hours to harvest, had to replant to get more, wait another 3 hours. Buy supplies associated with, and then do the 20 minute hike to deliver the goods.
Over that time frame I think I lost money buying seeds etc.
Like I said though it's at the lowest level and where you make money is the large guild runs together across the sea
