I'm forced to use the MS store because of GamePass.

All fine.

I haven't played the FS series in awhile but loved FS2004 and FSX back in the day. Is it possible to buy a gaming laptop that is powerful enough to run the new game to a decent level? Or does it basically need a supercomputer.

I am sure that there is a laptop that can play it at a decent level but it won't be cheap.

Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 Recommended Requirements
CPU: Intel Core i5-8400 or AMD Ryzen 5 1500X or better
RAM: 16 GB
OS: Windows 10 64-bit
VIDEO CARD: Radeon RX 590 or GeForce GTX 970
DEDICATED VIDEO RAM: 4096 MB

On another note, flew by Mt. Fuji last night and it was magnificent.

I would like to think i have a fairly decent (though 1.5 years old now) gaming laptop and it can barely handle this game on low end settings

Got it today, it’s amazing and an absolute must. Flying in keyboard was impossible, Stick is relaxing and enjoyable, that setup for 80 is perfect and cheap. Controls were plug and play perfect out of the box no tweaking necessary. Now get to use the game as I wanted as a way to look at all the cool places I have been and have been gone away from

Took a flight from KORD to KGRB, checked out everything in Chicago then buzzed Lambeau Field. I love this game.

Last night, I did a flight out of Nashville to our property up near Rock Island, TN. On the way, I discovered a single mountain that I didn't know existed in the area. A place called Short Mountain. It's obscured by a bunch of smaller hills and can't be seen but from a couple back roads I've never been down. Pretty cool to know that it exists nearby.

is this game so real that it's really a 4.5 hour flight from ATL to LAX?

Yup, you can skip through to different parts of the flight though if you want. Skip to descent skip to cruise altitude etc

Make sure to set the correct cruising altitude otherwise it will be longer than 4.5 hours

Turned on live weather and flew in to TS Laura to fulfill a hurricane hunter fantasy. The wind was throwing me around quite a bit.

What is the learning curve for these games?

I have a rig that can handle it, but I don't have and don't wish to buy flight sim sticks, pedals, etc.

I played Euro and American Truck Simulators with mouse and keyboard.

My first time ever playing it.

Mouse and keyboard was miserable, couldn’t fly even on easiest difficulty and had no control.

Picked up a 70 dollar HOTAS (linked above) and it’s as easy as could be

It's pretty easy for the basics, and it has settings to adjust any crutches you want. You can go as easy or hard as you want. I'd at least play it with a controller that has thumb sticks. K/M sounds miserable.

I'm trying to give DCS World a go and Holy Hell trying to learn the flight controls are hard as hell.

Really hoping MFS is a little more fun to learn.
