This game has been in development hell since like 2003, and they’re finally making it. Will be the latest game in the Metroid timeline. Looks excellent, and I’m guessing the Metroid 2 remake was a trial version of this. Really looking forward to buying it, but I want an update to Metroid Prime 4.
EDIT: the game designer of Metroid at large talks about the gameplay and says that the gaming engines weren’t advanced enough to pull this game off for well over a decade… I mean Metroid Prime’s graphics have probably aged the best of any game. Seriously with any engine a game has been given to work with, Metroid Prime still probably has the greatest graphics of all time given limitations. It still looks incredible nearly 20 years later. I’m just wondering what they got in store for this game if Metroid Prime’s graphics and capability wouldn’t suffice: YouTube

My concern is the Indie World does this genre so much now and has done great jobs. Hopefully it can live up to the hype.

Really the only ones that are AAA company quality in the indie space are Hollow Knight, Bloodstained, Dead Cells and Ori considering Microsoft was just the publisher not the co-dev. Axiom Verge as well.
People didn’t like Samus Returns because people had been trying to remake the source material for years and felt Mercury Steam didn’t do it justice. People have no excuse not to like this game unless it just totally goes off the wall of the Metroid formula with no collectibles, backtracking and is basically just a giant game of hide and seek. Which we know is all pretty much not true.
If this is a good game and the metroidvania crowd hates it, that just tells me all of them have a gamer boner for pixel art and Kickstarter games and never want an actual Metroid game to come out.

I am buying a Switch, which is my first Nintendo to own since Super NES. This looks badass

I am not a big video gamer, but Metroid Prime is my favorite video game of all time. It was my first Metroid game, and I played it for the first time when I was 16 years old in the summer of 2004 and I've never had a game blow my mind like that before.
I've played Super Metroid as well, and while I love Super Metroid, its missing the ability to be sucked in to the atmosphere Metroid Prime brings and the immersiveness. My favorite part of the game is when you go to the underwater reactor core and realize you are in the crashed frigate from the beginning of the game.
I've played Metroid Prime twice since my first play through in 2004 and it still blows my mind each time. It's why I am bummed we haven't seen a 3D Metroid in 14 years. I'll buy Metroid Dread for sure but we need a 3D Metroid too.

Is the white robot supposed to be some sort of stalker like Nemesis from RE?
I hate that mechanic.
