I’ve been looking at the Dell G5 and was hoping to get some opinions on this particular model. Thanks

Yeah, you’re not gonna do much better than a 1660 Super for sub $1000.

I'm looking to buy a prebuilt with a massive hard drive and basically just need a cpu/gpu that would easily handle a game like GTA V.

But every time I start configuring one, I end up upgrading my way to a 3,000 dollar rig. It's hard to resist the temptation to get the latest/greatest, even when you really don't need it...especially if you're telling yourself that this is the last pc that you plan on buying for a decade or so.

If you actually need a "massive hard drive", what you need is a NAS. I can't fathom why any SI would spec out a system with low end components but a ton of storage.

I don't "need" one. But it's a priority after having 1 TB on my current pc and finding that it's not nearly as much space as I'd like to have.

I'm not as into gaming as I used to be. But would still like a system that would play something like GTA V without any issues.

You'll want more than just 1 hard drive then.

Better off getting a SSD or NVME drive as your boot/OS drive, then a 2TB (or pair of them) HDDs for storage. Get at least a 500GB drive as your OS drive, and install some games on it that have the highest requirements (but honestly nearly all games will be fine on a HDD). Just be aware of where you're installing things, and clear out your downloads folder regularly.

I'm hoping to get at least 1 TB SSD for games and around 8 TB HDD for storage.

But I think I'm going to go ahead and get a good CPU/GPU in the build, since it's the last PC that I plan on buying for awhile.

Just trying to figure out whether to pull the trigger now, or wait a few months and see if the prices come down any.

If you’re wanting something long term, you have no choice but to wait. Prices are at their peak and availability is absolutely awful, but word is that it’s slowly getting better.

Stop downloading so much 4k porn and you won't need a 8tb HDD

It's mostly to build a library of old movies and tv shows, but I'd probably have room for a decent porn library too, I guess.

For this, as someone pointed out, you're probably wanting a NAS as opposed to a PC.

My current PC is about 8 years old and has an integrated graphics card. Was going to try to build a new one, but it seems like going with a prebuilt is the better option right now.

I usually play it on a console, but I was thinking about giving trying to get into playing GTA V and older GTA games with mods and can't do that with my current pc.

You're really looking at two different things then, if we're being honest.

The first is a gaming PC. It doesn't need to be too powerful, as GTA V has been around for a while, but if you start wanting to dip into Next Gen games, you'll find some better than others depending on setup.

The second, for storing tons of movies and shows, is a NAS. Get enough storage to take care of what you have but a model that will allow you to expand easily. Make sure it supports RAID 10 and get 4 drives at 2 TB each. That will give you 4 TB of storage as well as redundancy in case of a drive failure.

Throwing a single 8 TB drive into a PC if you have any intention of retaining those shows and movies is going to be rough if that drive fails.

I haven't used a NAS in a good while, so I can't really recommend a particular MFG, but that's going to be your best (eventual) bet. If you're on a tight budget though, the PC may not be a bad start (though I'd probably not go TOO Crazy on storage in the PC, and back up the files you don't want to risk losing to a external drive).

Put a larger hard drive in that and make that a plex/media/nas server

Then you can build your new gaming pc just to game on
