It's a very good game. Only complaint is that I'm having to beat the same stuff over again that I beat in the demo. Other than that, I'm stoked. I beat the first boss yesterday and halfway through the level after entering the hotel.

Got back through the demo area and just arrived at the area following the Watchman boss (final boss of demo)

God this game just feels good. Parrying is very satisfying like Sekiro, and the world and movement and weight feel just like Bloodborne

Its so good. Just got past the last boss of the demo, so everything now is new. Man I'm loving this game. The next two months are gonna be good for those of us that like souls type games.

Idk how far anyone is and obviously nothing jn this thread will or should be posted that’s a hint of spoilers but I have beaten the game finished it up about 30 min ago (do recall or know I had 72 hours early access). Omg this game. It’s so.fricking.good. When every player reaches the factory level which isn’t even really too far you’ll have the click moment of what is actually so special about this game if you haven’t put your thumb on it yet.

And with the way the lie/truth mechanic alters endings and the actual mechanics of general gameplay depending on who and how you use it with it has immense replay value.

In terms of length to beat took me about 28 hours but keep in mind Sekiro and it’s systems were always the scheme of this type of game I was best at which transposes here well. I didn’t struggle too much. I’d guess someone somewhat familiar with the genre but not hardcore into it would need 40-45 hours with deaths, difficulty, and navigation.

This is perhaps recent bias and I will revisit this take when the fresh joy and amazement has worn off but FromSoft games this game is 100% objectively better than

Dark Souls 2
Dark Souls 3
Armored Core 6
Elden Ring
Even Sekiro even if I do think Sekiro has the tightest combat of any game ever this game is still better

The only ones I’d say a legit argument cannot be made for it to be better than is DS1 and BB

Pumped to pick this up this weekend. I just beat all three of the Dark Souls games over the summer. Dark Souls 3 is the best in my opinion.

This along with Lords of the Fallen will give us a lot of fun hours over the next few months.

Also, anyone who likes these games and Nioh should try out Wo Long Fallen Dynasty. REALLY enjoyed it

Now that the game has had almost 2 days of wide release and 5 for the people with early access l I’m starting to see a gigantic amount ridiculous shift in this game popularity to the moon. People are talking about it and noticing it. I’m for one very very happy for the devs who no one had any fricking believe they couldn pull off a mid game let alone a possible masterpiece given their previous pedigree.

And I have no faith in lords of the fallen, I’m taking a wait and see approach. They haven’t given us a demo as far as I know correct? This game (Lies of P) put out a demo like 3 months ago that’s obviously at least 2 builds behind the final release. They knew they had gold

Coming from you.....this is a good thing. You got me into bloodborne which then led to Dark Souls 1, Sekiro, and then Elden Ring.

I will have it downloaded if Starfield becomes a bit stale. Skyrim and Fallout 4 were the same way for me. I play 40+ hours and then go, "Neat. That's enough" without beating the game.

Lies of P has more care, polish, optimization, and enjoyment in its first 15 minutes than starfield could ever provide in 100 years.

I assume this is for 2 reasons primarily. 1) The people who made it didn’t go creatively bankrupt like a decade ago minimum and are actually on the rise no falling and 2) Lies of P isn’t trying to be gaming Jesus to save Xbox and their failing streaming model. It has a specific identity and is unapologetic if you don’t like it

I will regret this but....I can't keep up. I thought Harry Potter game was the greatest game of great games ever and forever.

Kidding aside, I just want to hear about the game and thoughts without attacking another game. This is a fun hobby.

I'm excited to play it and I honestly haven't heard anything negative leading up to the release. Seemed like my cup of tea....surprised it took this long for someone to clone the Bloodborne aesthetic/gameplay.

Yeah you are right with your comments. That said...

Played Nioh 2 for a few hours and got bored. Same for Lords of the Fallen.

Since Lies of P is on Gamepass, I am definitely going to try it at some point.

I just won't spend money on them any more

Why do you assume it’s a negative proclamation against Starfield? Or that stating facts that are already widely known and accepted by all but the sunk cost fallacy invested in Starfield. It’s a mid tier Bethesda game from a studio far past their prime. Sure some fun to be had there. It’s probably on the same tier as something like Horizon Zero Dawn. Lies of P is something substantially different not just in that it’s made by a studio still trying to cut cut their teeth and not one slowly dying. But, that it doesn’t try to be something for everyone. The only game that ever pulled that off very well was Elden Ring. In doing this LoP established a very clear very distinct very impressive identity and draw

Something that makes Lies of P a bit easier for people in your boat I think will be how they make navigating the world easier than From usually does it with very clever lighting and item placement.

I just beat the factory last night and I am at the area where you take the tram car thing up. Ive had a blast playing it, so far. I really haven't struggled playing it too much, but these are my types of games. My buddy, otoh has been getting his arse kicked.

Yeah I have been noticing a lot of people talking about massive struggles. I didn’t anticipate this and I fully admit I might have been wrong in my earlier analysis with it being easier. What were your thoughts on the factory level? For me that is when I knew I the game was a masterpiece it’s when it finally became 100%

Btw spent last night and some of today playing sepetate ways DLC as Ada Wong for RE4 remake. It’s 9.99 and took me almost 8 hours on my first standard difficulty run. I very very highly recommend it for anyone who played and like RE4make since it’s retelling much of the same timeframe just from Adas POV

I'm really digging this game so far. It's challenging, but it doesn't feel as unfair as DS could sometimes be.

The only thing that needs work is the parrying system, which doesn't give you enough time to react.

It’s very tight hand precise. I’ve seen some people saying they new to rebalance the timing to make it less strict. Idk I beat the game in like 30 hours though and Sekiro never needed rebalanced timing to make it easier and this game gives you an abundance of resources and mechanics to help you out if you struggle with the parry times. Only thing I’ll say about this having fought every boss in the game there is 1 maybe 2 that is almost just a git gud when it comes to perfect parries and not just one at a time. It’s a sort of Melanie or Genichiro type boss in terms of how fast their attacks come out and you really can’t block and absorb all the chip damage through it. You could get very very good at precise timing of when each of their moves come out for the most part and utilize the lackluster dodge but you’ll be beating you head against s brick wall for hours if you don’t just embracing it head on and stand your ground.

Also, I’m sure you know this but for those who haven’t played it, each weapon has a blade and a hilt and each one of these has a special weapon art unique to each. So whatever weapon you’re using which you can hold and swap between two at s time will have 2 weapon arts or skills that require built up energy to use. Some hilts including one you can you buy from the merchant before the tutorial boss have essentially parry weapon arts. Use those

Quick question for the Xbox super fans who downvote me when I say true but critical things about Xbox, what if Phil Spencer openly said much of the same things? Would you continue to seethe and cope or move on to acceptance? I don’t want Xbox to bad, or fail, or disappear. In many ways they’re at least largely responsible for many of the best things we have today for their early innovations and basically entire 360 era. I don’t want PlayStation to not have to have any market pressure or competition to be their best. But when Phil Spencer is coming out and saying look streaming of all kinds is taking massive hits right now, with the only one even weathering the storm being Netflix. Xbox hitched their entire future to a streaming model and pay setup. His exact words is if certain milestones aren’t hit by 2027 Xbox is curtains. Not scaled back. Not going to drawing board. It will cease to exist. I keep trying to tell you homers this so you will demand more from the company you support and not just accept sub par service and shite. I don’t want this to happen. But of course flame away

my favorite thing on this board is the running gag about how naive you are as to why you are getting downvoted.

I’m not naive. I completely understand that the Xbox people are only a portion of it. Happy now? Or sad?
