with the constant hordes i don't see a point in using the rifle. You can sit and pick off a few of the zombies but once the horde comes running i would imagine the rifle being too slow to load.
This is the same reason i don't use the shotgun its too slow to load, i like the m16 and instead of holding down the button just pressing it so you only shoot three/four rounds unless i need to hold it.

just played for 2 hours...
this is a FUN game.
trying out different weapons... I like the sniper rifle.
finished the match, and when the military came, like 8 hordes came and I got left behind!

the online campaign is really fun and i don't find it gets boring at all. I really like the versus mode i like playing as the infected..plus its fun to try and survive when you aren't the infected. I can't wait for more maps to be downloadable. This is a online FPS that the mic isn't a necessity. common sense tells you to stay together and help out each other, its not like COD or HALO where you can venture on your own.

I can take out 4-5 zombies with one shell from my shotgun. Especially for part 5 of dead air i recommend everyone use a shotgun.

no offense but the strategy with any weapon is for someone to have your back while you reload. Now i agree that the power the shotgun has allows to take out more than one zombie 8 bullets isn't enough to defend a horde when you are alone.
now i'm not certain what part 5 is, i'm guessing that it is the last part. I use the m16 and move around, or use the m16 and set myself behind the plane along the dark hill. you have an open shot to the horde as they come running, rarely does something spawn behind you and you are a great distance from the tank, its best to have someone with you incase of a smoker but it seems like a great place to camp out and you are next to the plane when it opens up.
The reason i like to move around is you never know who you have to help. i've played with people who like to get on the plane i didn't like that, the tank spawns two feet from you and you are caught in his path. i don't mind staying next to the tanker truck but you leave your back open. If i would play this with friends and find my mic it would be simple to place two on one side the truck and two on the other, but i still think the best spot is behind the plane on the hill by the fence...its open for the shooting.
i usually play to how the party is playing but if i see they're not doing so hot and getting us killed i go hide myself on the hill and fight for myself. I find at some point you have to decide are these people worth saving or will they get me killed, numerous times helping someone at the end of the game has gotten them saved and me killed.

+1 never play with the gamertag getTKed he will tk you before you leave the saferoom, steal your medpac, and subsequently get owned within 5 seconds.

sounds like i played with this guy already. Had a guy who just kept killing me during versus mode i tried getting him kicked but no one wanted to so i just quit.

i like versus because its fun being the infected especially the hunter
however, campaign is a lot of fun as well. I have never played expert though not sure how much different/difficult it is compared to normal.

Dude insane like one hitter quitters automatically from the tanks. That is where I get stuck. I can beat everything else but the tank usually wipes out the whole team.

that sucks, its bad enough its difficult to survive the tank without a full arsenal i can't imagine when it just takes a single shot.

Have you ever headshot the witch and got the achievement? I have tried everything the autoshotgun, pump, and the hunting rifle nothing kills that bitch. My friend though just rolls up on top of her and caps her.

Oh yeah I did only the pistol deal. It is pretty easy all you have to do is play with a party of four and they need to watch your back since you don't want to get caught alone with jizz on your face from a boomer and the horde coming at you with only a pistol. Otherwise just turn it on easy and it is cake.

This is definetly "The Shooter"
I like how its almost two teams on each side as you can have two people on your system while online and it seems like many others do the same.
It makes it more fun, because it seems like when I play games I always have people over wanting to play. Thats why I only have three hours on Fallout 3, and still haven't opened "Army of Two".
I thought GOW2 was the best co-op, but L4D is a pure shooter, and it doesn't get old or boring.
Fun game.
My Gamertag is NolaZach, on a lot.
