Is X-Box going out?

Got a 360 in December 2007. Probably a year later, I got the red ring and a black screen with white text telling me the machine had encountered serious problems and to contact Microsoft support or something along those lines.
I turned the thing off and turned it back on. Everything was fine.
Another year goes by with no issues, and then last week I get the same red ring and same error. I turned it off again, turned it back on and everything seems fine.
Has anyone else had this? I was under the impression if you got the red rings, your system was fried.

I don't care about the PS3. I've had the thing for more than two years and never had a problem aside from these two errors that didn't harm anything.
Just wondering if anyone else has gotten errors but then the machine was fine?

Guess they need something to feel better about not getting as much out of a system as Xbox gives.

I've had mine since November of the same year and have never had a single problem with it of any kind. Has always had internet connectivity, run all of my games, updated correctly, etc.

what's the point of getting anything special out of a box that you can't even turn on in a year or two?

Better exculsives, getting the DL content first, more players online, etc.

Is this normal or just for COD MW2?

more players online
IDGAF...PSOnline has more people than I will ever play with.
I'll take the Blu Ray and no RROD aspect anyday over those things.
ETA: set your tdbbl lineup FIG

I use both systems about the same amount, depending on the game. But when it comes to multi-platform I always go for the 360.

Better exculsives,
Halo is a big exclusive for X-Box, but COD's on PS3 make up for that from a FPS standpoint.
My opinion, i wouldn't trade MLB The Show for any other game X-Box makes. It's the only title I purchase every year.
