I’m glad I saw this, I’ve been out of work for a month(Mtn bike accident) and I ended up painting some miniatures. It is fun, I will say mine look nowhere as good as those.. I painted miniatures for a game called Cry Havoc and a fun WW2 game called Memoir 44

My brother is into it. He got a starter 3D printer for Christmas and prints his own things then paints them.
Nothing crazy detailed but he enjoys it and seems pretty cool.

I did a few mode tanks and it was really therapeutic.

I paint some, but sporadically. So far all my pieces have been fantasy/D&D related.
I’ve probably only completed 20 or so things in the nigh two years I’ve been in the hobby. Sporadic, as I’ve said.
Right now I have four incomplete pieces I haven’t touched in about two weeks.
I use mostly The Army Painter paints, with some Vallejo, Reaper’s paints, and other brands here and there.
Oh...and a cocaine addiction is cheaper than a Games Workshop addiction. Check out some other companies or genres. Reaper is a Texas based company, though their stuff usually gets made in China. Effincool Minis is out of Ohio I believe. Both of those two companies cater to Fantasy games mostly.
TT Combat has some interesting pieces for a few of their games. Check out the game Bushido for some nice Japanese inspired stuff.
