I don't think anybody sane would argue GoW Ragarok is a bad game. It was just a slight let down because after 2018 expectations were through the roof.
There are several ways it improved on some things over 2018, more enemey variety and more interesting boss fights, more side quests, etc.
However it also didn't have nearly the same impact as 2018 did in terms of wow'ing people. And when a story-centric game fumbles the story even a little bit, it hurts it more than games where the story is not really of note.

I’ve had these on my backlog forever. Played the first 2 back in the day as a kid and loved them. Never played 3 I had switched over to Xbox by then

3 is the best of the original trilogy. I enjoyed them all but 3 is the clearcut best of them.
