Hyper X headset/mic and audio problems with Windows 10

Google has sent me in all different directions. I can't tell if it's a headset issue, audio driver issue or what.
Essentially, computer sometimes won't recognize headset and mic when plugged in. It's a USB connection with a dongle.
If it is recognized, it sometimes cuts out. PC ends up showing no audio drivers found. Sound settings and control panel freezes. At that point I have to force a hard shutdown.
Anyone have any ideas?

No clue. I have a Hyper X headset but don't use the usb. I just plug both inputs into the top panel on my case.

Yeah I wanted to do that but mine only has a single jack for the headset. Makes no sense. I'm forced to use the dongle.

I recommend a Logitech or Corsair headset when you're in the market again.

It should have came with an extension cable that has both mic and audio input jacks. Strange if it didn't.

you know what....now that you mention it, i think i do recall seeing those somewhere
i actually just fixed this (hopefully for good)
ended up reinstalling the latest drivers for my motherboard. i think i had the wrong/old drivers and they were causing issues
