Just borrowed my friend's copy and I cannot stop the run for the life of me. Opponents run through and around me all day. Any tips?

Blitz run side and clean up with the safety....

Put eight in the box, best way to stop the run in real life and in Madden lol.

Okay but then a smart player audibles to a quick pass. I mean, I appreciate the help, but that would get me torched through the air, no?

Man up and blitz LBs, controlling one of the blitzing linebackers. 16-2 online ranked matches.

I've tried that and I keep getting swallowed up by a G or T. Any advice on breaking through the gaps?

Use and outside backer and roll up to the LOS. Switch to opposite sides randomly and use your Line/LB shifts pre-snap to confuse them.

You will not break through any gaps. You will get pancaked repeatedly there is no way to guard everything at one time, you have yo know your opponents tendencies.
On these next gen consoles it doesn't seem like you need specific play calls to stop the run you just need to anticipate. Barring the fact that you are asking for help you probably control a defensive lineman and are not very comfortable using a line backer or a safety.
I clean up runs consistently from a zone blitz and user the safety. Once I get down into the gaps you just play gap control and force him back inside on outside runs.
Since we are throwing out credentials I'm usually ranked in the top 100 every year on NCAA and on madden I win about 75% of my games without cheesing. Good luck. If you were on xbox I could show you.

How to stop the run?
Don't play Adrian Peterson

Yes, that is true. My favorite package to use is the Nickel Cover 2 scheme, it defends well against the run and the pass, give that a try and see if it works for you.

This is great advice. I user the weak-side backer, but you have to maintain gap control. I don't blitz often, but I still limit my opponent's run game. My base play is Cover 3 because the SS will often creep down into the box. Try usering a linebacker or SS (often they control the flats), and go from there. Crazy blitzes don't always lead to good run defense.

I need an Xbox One I'm more of an NCAA guy, but since that franchise is done, I'll be playing Madden now.

It's such complete horse shite too. I wish those bitch asses had their college jerseys shoved up their asses with a pitchfork. Hope they enjoy the dollar menu lunch they bought with what they got from that fricking lawsuit.
