My ps4 download speed (16 mbps) is considerably slower than that of my laptop which is getting a consistent 72 mbps any thoughts on how to boost my ps4 speed TIA

Get a Xbox.
Joking, I think it is just a consol thing. My Xbone downloads slower than my laptop.

Consoles have cheap network chips, just how it is. You can put it in a DMZ with a static IP and maybe get another 5-10Mbps.

Psn is also notoriously slow. Ps4 is better than PS3 but it's still not that fast.

your console will never have a dl speed as fast as your PC, just not built that way
16 mbps should be plenty for whatever you are trying to do though

The DMZ on a router is a place outside of the routers firewall and all internet traffic not directed at a specific ip address is routed to the ip that is in the DMZ. It is pretty safe to do with a game console, but I would never suggest doing it with a PC.
