I'll admit, I have no clue what is going on with these 2 XBoxes I have.

My kids have multiple accounts obviously, 1 uses 1 XBox and 1 uses the other(the one I use)

On the XBox Series S I use, I have Xbox Live or whatever the online subscription is, no issues.

The issue is on the other XBox. My kid plays a shite ton of different games online with no issues. But every time he buys a new game(has happened twice now) more recently, for those new games only it says he is not able to play online without an XBox Live subscription.

Now, I am fairly certain I only have 1 XBox Live subscription, but why would he have so many other games he can get online for but a couple of random games he does not?

Umm it sounds like your kid is mainly playing free to play games (eg fortnite, Roblox, rocket league etc) and a sub isn’t required for most free to plays. Games you purchase will need an Xbox live sub for online access.

Now iirc you can share a single Xbox live sub on multiple consoles but I’m not sure how to do that.

Man, this was executed perfectly. I scrolled down just perfectly so I only saw that and not the rest, I was like, "frick this guy"

Something tells me you have a boy around 11 years old because that's legit the top 3 games he plays

I know those games are free but I guess I never realized you could also play the online version of those games without the XBox Live. Seems obvious now but never really thought of that.

Sounds like that's the next thing I need to figure out. I'll research/Google but if anyone else has any insight on how to do this, any advice would be appreciated

I use this trick to share GamePass with my kids console so I assume it will work with just Xbox Live. May want to give it a try to see if it clears up the issue.

First, you will need to sign into your son's Xbox with your MS account and in settings choose to make that your "home Xbox." Then make sure you sign out your profile on that Xbox. Your son then can sign in with his profile, and he will be able to play any installed games that your account owns or has access to through GP.

Second, you will need to sign in with your profile on your Xbox, any time you want to play games. But don't make that Xbox your "home Xbox."

As long as your profile is not signed in on both boxes at the same time, all should work as intended. This only works with two Xboxes, because you only can designate one system as your "home" console. But anyone who signs in on that one can play all your games. Also any Xbox that you sign into with your profile (anywhere, not just one that you own) will let you play all of your games for as long as you are signed in.

The only problem you may run into is if you forget or don't know to sign out on the home console before you try to play a game on the other one. If you get an error saying you "can only play one game at a time," you just need to sign out your profile on the other box.
