Graphics Card RecommendationsPosted by OGD
on 2/21/21 at 5:51 pm

I am looking to build a PC (first timer) and I am trying to find a great all-around graphics card to run WoW, Modern Warfare, and maybe Fight Simulator. My budget is around the $500 range for the Card.
I am looking at an RTX 3060 Ti, but it seems like these are like ammo right now. Impossible to find. Is a 3060 the right route? Can I get away with something else that may be more readily available?

5700xt or a 2070/2080 super and you’ll be perfectly fine for those games.

If you’re gonna wait until stock replenishes, you might as well wait until the new GPUs come out this year. Everyone says that current gen will be readily in stock before the announcement of the 2021 cards, but I just don’t see it. People are still quarantining and have nothing better to do than sit at a computer all day snatching up GPU drops and flipping them on Facebook and eBay.
If you’re dead set on a new card, go over to EVGA and put your name down for a 3070 when they come in stock again. They will send you a special link that only your account can use to purchase a new GPU.
Or you can watch out for their b-stock to drop around mid-week where you can buy a used 20-series card. These are trade-in/trade-ups. I believe EVGA has a program where you buy a new 20 series card and you can pay the difference for an upgrade when a 30 series is available.

As soon as possible but willing to wait until stock replenishes in the next month or two if that is realistic. If I’m going to build I want to do it right
Your issue is going to be that if you're "waiting for stock to replenish" meaning "I can buy a card whenever I want", you're going to be waiting a very long time. With that said, with each passing week, cpu and gpu drops seem to last a little bit longer than they used to. Unfortunately, that means minutes, or sometimes hours, instead of seconds. But, if you're willing to put in the effort, follow the sites/twitter accounts that blast out alerts when drops go live, you can likely get something as long as you aren't unnecessarily picky.
If I were you, I would cast a net that covers 3060, 3060ti, and 3070 to improve your chances.
He's got hops.
