The Rockstar Social Club crew is more of a social network for friends of all systems. It is not the same as the in game gangs you will be able to form in Grand Theft Auto Online.

Same here, mines KrazyAttack which I don't HATE, but when I look back on it, I had one of the first PS3's probably and could have chosen anything at the time and just rushed and made that.
Got my PS3 on launch night for $680 total at midnight, completely botched the name creation.
There was a rumor everyone will get a chance to change their name 1 time with the PS4, but I highly highly doubt it.

I'm at like level 17 trophies and go for trophies, screw that I'm not losing all my hard work.

Can you have multiple accounts for the same email address?

Are you a GameStop Power Up Reward member. If you are I think it is optional to give them your phone number. If you just have a reserve and they don't have your number on record, you probably won't get the text.

When I went to go reserve GTA, the cashier automatically signed me up for the Rewards program. My email and phone# got put into the system.
It's not a big deal to not get a text, though. I already paid for the game in full when I went there so I know my copy will be waiting for me on Tuesday.
