My PC is not top of the line by any means but running this very well so far.
Throwing and recalling the axe is soooooo satisfying

I was actually finding combat to be extremely frustrating until I just started launching that bad boy at the random baddies in front of me instead of saving it for ranged enemies and puzzles. You don't want to miss with it if something is charging, but it packs more of a punch than one might initially think

How long has it been since you started a fresh non+ new game?
For someone who has never played a God of War game, starting a regular new game with no skills, upgrades, runes, etc, feels a little underpowered against groups of larger enemies. Combine that with just trying to learn the combat system, and it can be a bit frustrating.
Now that I’ve leveled up a bit and have gotten used to combat, I’m flying through the game and enjoying it quite a bit.
With kb/m

I thought the combat system was easy to understand, esp for an old man like myself.
but NG+ was fccking hard.
It has been about 2yrs. I could beat everything but the Valk Queen or whatever on NG+.
Took lots of Adderall to push through NG+.

I'm not saying it's not easy to understand. I had it down within a few hours. But getting used to up close combat with npcs more powerful than me had a bit of a learning curve, and near the end of the opening tutorial area, I found it a bit frustrating... until I started smacking motherfrickers in the face with my throwing ax
I'm still heavily relying on ax throwing in general, but I've gotten more comfortable with melee as well. I just finished the fight with Svartáljofurr (I thought about obliquely describing the circumstances to avoid spoilers, but I decided just listing the name was the least spoilery thing I could do), which was almost entirely melee due to his propensity to block ax throws.

Maybe it is hard on KB/M, use a controller?
I'm a PC and KB/M first guy, but the feedback you get from the controller, and the head flip/turn was made to be used with a controller.
But enjoy the game. I think it is a Top5 modern (2010ish-Now) and Top20 game of all time. The story really hit me, the combat felt perfect and the pacing was just great.

I genuinely don’t understand why you’re fixating on that
I tried playing with a controller. It didn’t solve the issue I was having, and it added frustration due to lack of precision movement. And yes, the head flip was made for the controller, because it’s needed to compensate for controllers being slow to turn around. And even though it’s much faster to turn with a mouse, I still get to use the flip key if I want to.
Again, I don’t understand why you’re fixating on frustration I had like two hours in when I’m now ten hours in telling you things are progressing really well. That doesn’t mean I’m saying controller players should move to kb/m. In fact, if kb/m players don’t have mappable buttons on their mice, I would suggest they use controllers because the default scheme is way too keyboard heavy to really be functional. But for longtime kb/m players who can remap the scheme? I imagine most would find themselves more effective that way.
Now let’s please move on from input scheme
I’m really enjoying it thus far. It’s not my standard game type, but the story is engaging and the pacing is great. Graphics are beautiful as well. Because I’m more used to rpg type games, I’m having moments in which his actions or what he says frustrates me, but I also understand that allows for crafting a much tighter narrative. I’ll check back in once I progress a bit further along.

Because you saying the combat seemed weird or something,
MFer, the combat is very satisfying and easy to grab.
Never the less, enjoy the game!

I said I found one aspect of the combat frustrating in my first two hours of ever playing a God of War game. Mountains out of mole hills and whatnot

Only thing I found weird is they throw you in combat before giving you the full tutorial on dodge, parry and roll. Have had no problem with mnk bindings for what it’s worth
Are the cut scenes skippable? Not worried about it on first playthrough but i bet that shite gets real old on NG+

My primary issue with the default bindings were aim (ctrl) and recall (R). Remapped them to my two side mouse buttons. Not that their default was a horrible deal breaker, but I just didn't find them to be great for how often I was using them.
Not sure about the cutscenes. I know you can push some conversations forward by hitting Space, but I honestly haven't tried. I still watch Mass Effect dialogue and cutscenes on my fourth playthrough

When I first walked up to one (the cat with the shield on his back), I don’t think I dropped his health a mm before he killed me. Axe throw was literally useless. I almost just turned around and walked away, but decided this was going to be my first get gud moment. First I had to learn his attacks, which took a handful of deaths. Then I had to actually learn the timing skills to counter him. One solid direct hit, or two glancing hits, were enough to kill me. Didn’t have a resurrection stone when I found him. Took me probably 15+ deaths, but I ultimately killed that son of a bitch with my bare hands. But more importantly, I got better.
I think I took out his friend in about five tries (he kept getting me with a rapid four swooped sword rotation which looked extremely similar to his single swoop move, and I kept getting greedy).
Moving on up in the world with two pieces of Ancient and the Traveler skirt. Think I’ll push the main quest a bit further tomorrow.

I just got RDR2 on the steam sale a couple of weeks ago and only have a few hours into it but now I want to pick this up again too.
Doubt I hold out much longer.

I’ve got just under 22 hours in. Zero crashes. It’s been fun.

You had never played it though right? I beat on PS4 Pro at launch, but have forgot enough about it that I think it's worthwhile on PC years later.

Not only have I never played it, this is my first God of War game, period.
