Not really, yeah when it comes to some games but with a lot of the AAA games those things are sold out months in advance.

Oh yeah for sure. I mean, if you think about it, they've been priming use already and testing the waters with all these "special edition" games that range from $80 to $150 dollars. They know how much people are willing to pay for a game that they really want. There's not a doubt in my mind that if the next COD was $100 then it would still be the most selling game of that year per units.
Yeah I saw a discussion where people were literally afraid of game sales going digital because they wouldn't be able to buy these "special edition" games.
I think the only special edition games I have ever bought was the premium version of BF3 because I lost my multiplayer disc and the Skyrim one that just came out. I bought both because all of the DLC came free with them. Oh and they were both still only $60.

Yep, I've bought premium twice(Xbox and PC) and I have no problem paying for something like that when I know that I'm getting a "discount" on future DLCs that I know that I'm going to buy anyway. I think I'm in the minority when saying that I don't mind paying for DLCs. Also, if someone buys a game used and they enjoy it then they'll buy the DLCs as well, which is supporting the devs. I'm sure that has really been one of the motivating factor of why DLCs have gotten so popular(with devs and publishers) to produce them last few years to supplement the losses on used games.

Do you realize there are often people that don't have a true preference between either. I could give a shite less about Xbox or PS. I wanna be able to play a good game to kill some time, both of these consoles offer that to me.
These stupid limitations on a already more expensive console though aren't making me want anything to do with the upcoming xbox though.
Also as I have mentioned before. I work in a 24 hour government shop. We are solo alot of the time, and an entirely customer driven job. We have consoles here to kill time when we have nothing to do. These wouldn't be able to access the internet though. Therefore the stiuplations on the xbox take it out of contention for me.

So sell a special edition with all the usual goodies and a game key inside.

How often do you buy used games? (I haven't bought a used game since the ps2 days) How often do you share your games? (I don't let friends borrow my games because I never get them back)
Ok. You don't but a significant portion of people do, which is why so many dislike it.
And sorry you have shite arse friends
Ps3 is also cheaper which is a draw

So how does this work with renting games from the video store, or one of the online outlets.
I haven't rented a game since I was a kid, but I imagine people still do.

You do realize that tethering a phone is enough of an internet connection to do the required check. You can go offline right after that.

Redbox and gamefly are the only viable sources I believe. Everyone else has died a cold terrible death.

And both of them need to work on a digital service and they will as well.
Red Box has already started this on the Xbox on the movie front, but their selection is miserable

If things go the way that we think they are then they'll have to evolve or die like the rest.

Are you talking about using dial up, or literally unhooking the work phone jack and into the back of the xbox would do it without having any actual internet?

Spencer stated that the bandwidth requirements are in “kilobytes, not megabytes. You can also set your console to always have the latest bits in a standby state.”

This means that even if you want to tether your Xbox One to your smartphone to authenticate it, you won’t face any issues. Spencer also stated that those without internet access shouldn’t be looking at the Xbox One but that even those with lesser connections aren’t being totally shut out.
“We’ve all had 360s for quite a while. If you look at what the box was capable of doing when we launched it versus what it’s doing it now, we listened. We’re part of the community.

That's cool, to each his own. I feel like people lose sight that these things are meant to have fun with. I don't have a dog in this fight though.

I dont get all these people freaking out about th need to phone home once a day. How many times a day does your smartphne go online without youre knowledge?
Posted on 6/16/13 at 1:10 am to BTHog
It's always watching and reporting. People just want a new thing to bitch and argue about.
