No, just interested in maybe doing this.

It seems like the setup is quite a bit expensive.

Yes, sim setups can become incredibly expensive. I've considered getting into racing Sims, but I don't need another prohibitively expensive hobby.

How much would a decent computer to run x-plane 11 or flight sim X be? $5k?

5k? No, $2500 would put you being able to do anything. It really depends on the monitor/s you want to use. If you're going 4k, you'll need a lot of horsepower, but with 1080p you could get way with spending half of that.

I've gotten pretty into F1 this summer since there are no other sports going on.

I look through facebook marketplace pretty often, and it's been really tough not buying a vive/rift and a G27 setup. I've heard VR racing is god tier

I'm sure it is, but if I'm honest with myself, a VR setup would eventually be used exclusively for porn. I don't need my man cave to turn into an elaborate jack shack.

$2500 would not be able to support 4k? I wouldn't mind starting cheap then upgrading later.

I was saying that $2500 would be enough for 4k.

Thanks. Not as bad as I thought. Do you save any money by building your own? My nephew does that kind of stuff.

It's really easy to do, just watch some YouTube tutorials and you'll be fine.

How do you get extra usb ports? Monitor, keyboard, mouse, joystick, rudders and throttles. Later another monitor or two.

You probably won't need extra USB slots. Most motherboards have around 10 or so on their I/O panel.
