It's a weird game in the sense that it has obvious glaring problems, but it's just fun and addictive.
Signs of a good combat system. I really hope they keep this going forward. Story is meh but the combat is so fun it doesn't really matter.

That's the route I took. I'm perfectly ok with jamming out to the oldschool soundtracks for a few minutes while getting exp.

ETA: Another thing I encourage people to do, USE THE JAPANESE VOICES! Pop on the English subtitles but for the love of God use the original voices. I cannot tell you how much more life it injects into the scenes. The level of acting between the two is not even remotely comparable and the Japanese voices fit so much better, not to mention you get to enjoy the flawless lip-sync.

I've always had a different criteria for my final fantasy stories

x the voice acting is terrible...and it is the best story

vi and vii are the heaviest on exposition, and I freaking love it

so I didn't care about shitty voice acting. in fact I think it's the best English voice acting in the series.

I have not noticed bad loading times at all? Maybe it is because I am on the Pro?

My mistake in wording, I meant when I said loading times I'm just comparing it to riding in the car and gaining AP.

I personally think it's more worth your time to ride in the car and gain the AP, than waiting 30-45 seconds for the loading screen.

I am much agreed on getting the AP via traveling in the car rather than doing the fast travel.

Plus it just gives me time to tigerdrop.

Okay I take my tip back. I find myself riding a lot anyways, only because the quests take you to so many new locations. ETA: Also my loading takes about 5 secs max, game is loaded onto external HD to XBone.

Side note: Have any of y'all checked out reddit? Their posts are all about spoilers, DLCs, and being bored with end game as most of them have already finished it. I get no-lifeing a game but come on this game was 10 years in development, how can you just plow through it in less than a week?

Nice. I didn't even think of this being a possibility lol.

I have and I hate it lol.

I'm 21 hours in now and I'm still on chapter 3 lol.

EDIT: I'm lvl 32 and the rest of the crew is 31. I'm having fun just doing sidequests at this moment. I did just get my third royal arms though.

Yeah you're playing at the same pace as me. I'm also currently in ch.3. Just got to lestallum. I'm level 45 right now.

Got to chapter 11 then went back to the overworld to knock out some quests.

There is a sewer dungeon that is quite literally the worst dungeon I've ever played in a game ever. It was a chore to finish.

I'm only in chapter 3, but I had read that once you get to like chapter 6 or 7 the game doesn't let you return to the over world to explore and do side quests until you finish the game. Doesn't seem like that's the case if you're able to explore in chapter 11. Do you have access to the entire wold in chapter 11?

I'm in chapter 8 and still have all access but I think this next story quest will take me on to the part where I can't come back by the sounds of it so I'm doing side quests and like getting weapons and their upgrades and such that I can now.

But to answer your question. Once you get forced into the the linear part there is an option of being able to get back to the big world pretty much at any time I think. I'm not there yet but from what I've heard.

You can use "time travel" at an inn to go back.

So I keep reading about 'upgrading' your weapons lol, how the frick do you actually do it. I'm lvl 42 across the board, in chapter 7, 3-6 go really quick btw, and I've only upgraded weapons by buying new ones from arm dealers.

Is that the only way to upgrade or is there like a way to upgrade through materials and what not?

Talk to Cid a bunch of times and he'll give you quests to grab items that will upgrade certain weapons. Most of the items you need are rare drops, I think I only upgraded a few of the weapons once

Maybe they're talking bout the Cid missions for the weapons that have the yellow plus sign in their thumb nail? Weapons like the biobloaster and engine blade..

Do the mobs in the story quests scale with your level or are you demolishing them?

A majority of the shite I run into is like lvl 21-28. Random mobs are lvl 12-16 for the most part and taking them down is laughable.

But randomly, maybe 33% of the Magitek mobs I run into now will be lvl 47 for some reason and if I'm not paying attention I will get fricking rocked.

I did the Marlaman Thicket dungeon last and two of last fights, inlcuding the final fight were lvl 35+ and were actually challenging requiring me to use potions. There was another royal dungeon where on the way to it, in chapter 3 when I was lvl like 28ish, I ran into a huge fricking snake that was lvl 50 lol. It was like right in front of the dungeon which was a main story quest that recommended like lvl 18 or something. I thought that was random as hell too.

I just got the trophy for 50 sidequests completed I believe. I also took advantage of hoarding exp and then dropping 10k gil for the 2x exp for staying in the hotel at Galden Quay.

I love the combat system, but I don't personally think I'm great at it and I also have a problem of worrying about being under-levelled in RPG's so this is a common thing for me lol.
