Just beat hell house on hard mode tonight. I got lucky that when the 2 mechs pop in the last phase I summoned Shiva. Aerith went down and Cloud was low HP and Shiva dropped her final attack and finished off all 3. Hard mode has been fun.

Just finished the game finally, I was taking it a few hours a day and just WOW.
I was expecting a total Kingdom Hearts fiasco after reading this thread, but I have to say, Nomura executed that perfect. It makes me intrigued on the next installments...
The Zack stuff was unexpected, and it's obvious to me where they are going. The last act of the game is just amazing, I'm so happy this game turned out how it did, it exceeded my expectations on every front.
I'm hoping they put out 10-15 hr episodes now just so I can get more of this ASAP, I'm going to play it on Hard now to get the platty. But I'm going back to XV and playing Aryden first because I dont think I finished that DLC

Stupid tonberries got me a few times as first, then I went through a series of deaths as I learned the moves and how to dodge them. After a while I was just wiping over and over when the sweepers came out, no matter how much I was acing the earlier phases. My missing tactic was smacking the house with thundaga when it was about to come out of the air the first time. It was coming down and hitting so hard I just couldn't recover. Hit it with thundaga then immediately pounded it, staggered it, and finished it off before the sweepers even came out to finally beat it and felt stupid af

I stopped before Hell House. It was such a horrible fight in my first play through lol. I need to push through because I also was enjoying hard mode.

You can actually bait the Hell House towards the tonberries and sweepers and it will take them out for you. I normally saved triple slash for the tonberries and used the bait method with the sweepers as well as arcane ward + thunder. That boss fight was def top 3 hardest in hard mode tho.

Triple slash for tonberries, Bio on hell house always, magnify+haste, save planet protection for the sweeper and cutter phase and just focus on keeping health up with chakra and prayer. I also use revival earrings.
I've been through chapter nine four times now (screwed up the dresses) and its pretty simple using this strategy.

Is planet protection Aerith's 2nd limit break? I don't think I ever used that but I probably should have.

Since the tread is bumped..
There was a "leak" that showed part 2 being released on PS5 in 2023..using unreal 5 as well.

I find that hard to believe given the popularity and success of the game. Seems like SE would want to be released on PS4 as well to capture the audience that didn't upgrade and using UE5 would make that basically impossible.. but I suppose if they really aren't releasing until 2023 there won't be many on PS4 anymore.

Finally beat Hell House in hard last night. I only tried four times, but the first three I got so far and died that I got pissed off and put the game down for a few weeks. Didn’t help that none of my characters had any MP for the fight either.
I am back to enjoying the game though, especially the more advanced Materia builds. A lot of Materia I never even equipped in my normal run, but I’ve pretty much used everything now.
I’m dreading the fight against Rufus. He was really the only encounter I wiped on a few times on my normal playthrough.

He isn't difficult on hard mode if you know his and Darkstar's (his dog) patterns. It's all about timing and parrying with Cloud's punisher mode. Also, for that fight, elemental + thunder materia on linked armor slot helps a bunch. If your elemental materia is high enough, you can even absorb his thunder magic once you've maxed it out.
