Execs hunting bonuses consider causing a Twitch creator exodus by cutting streamer pay

Twitch, the Amazon.com Inc.-owned live-streaming website, is weighing changes to how it pays top talent, said people familiar with the planning, an effort that would boost its profits but would also risk alienating some of its biggest stars.
The updates under consideration would offer incentives for streamers to run more ads. The proposal would also reduce the proportion of subscription fees doled out to the site’s biggest performers, said the people, who asked not to be identified because the discussions are private.
Some changes to Twitch’s monetization structure could be implemented as soon as this summer, the people said. Twitch staff is considering paring back the revenue cut of channel subscriptions granted to the top echelon of streamers in its so-called partnerships program to 50%, from 70%. Another option is to create multiple tiers and set criteria for how to qualify for each one, two of the people said.

with the last exodus of streamers bailing for YT, I rarely find myself on twitch anyways. They're really trying to kill that platform.
The only benefit I could see from this is someone would now be more likely to give Prime subs to smaller streamers. I mostly watch TTT during the afternoon but give my prime sub to a guy I do enjoy but rarely get time to watch on twitch.

I quit watching twitch because of the ads. If I didn’t have to look up a new blocker or tweak an already installed blocker like every month I’d probably still watch.
And no I’m not buying turbo or subbing

The day I stopped going to twitch is the day I started having to watch 7 ads in a row just to tune in to a stream. They're broke as frick and think forcing ads in front of people's faces will fix the issue. This is what happens when real businessmen buy a business and let their brainlet sons run it.

I rarely watch now for the same reason. Jump into a stream, get hit with a 30 second ad. Jump to another stream, 30 second ad. Come back to the original stream, 30 second ad
