Downloaded Madden 21 off EA Play

I’m already so disappointed. I was immediately given 17 packs to open for Ultimate team. My team jumped from a 61 OVR to an 85. Why is it so easy to get a good team? It’s more fun when you have to work to get that stuff.

Eh. That will give you a fighting chance probably but 85 is pretty mediocre nowadays if you're planning to play online.
That initial boost is nice but unless you have badges on players and legit good skill position players, you're probably going to get rolled by anyone that has put some time in.

it’s competitive at launch but by September you’re already behind the curve. I can’t imagine trying to compete against 97+ overall players with what you have

God every time I play this game it reminds me of why I hate it and never do.
Down 3 with 2 minutes left I drive all the way down the field and get to the 15 yard line. 3rd down and I call for a passing play with Kamara running a route out of the back field to the right.
He ends up just fricking standing straight up like a statue in the backfield so there goes that option and I force a pass to the end zone for an int.
Also why is running the ball in this game impossible?

The line engages in their blockers for 1 second and then they disengage. The cpu sheds every block.

Did you frick up the settings or something? And you have to vary how you run, take advantage of matchups, be patient, and put in that stick work.
I will say after the last update, I’ve noticed less frickery with Madden. Not sure what happened with Kamara there but why the hell did you force a pass to the end zone rather than running right up the middle there? Or slightly to the left. Or to the right?

Don’t hit the sprint button until after you hit the hole. Especially on zone running plays.

A team being “good” is all relative, but what are the point of having bronze, silver, and gold players in the game if everyone can get elites easily?
The old Madden mobile was the best setup. It took you almost a month to get to a point where your team were all golds. Most players were 75 to 90 OVR. If you were better than 90 that meant you put a lot of time in. I can get a 90 OVR team in Madden 21 just by playing a few challenges and collecting all the stupid giveaways.
I got a 96 OVR Russell Wilson for no reason as soon as I started the game. You can’t tell me that this is a good system.
No it’s not. It just seems terrible because everyone has 95 OVR teams because it’s super easy to get high OVR teams because MUT is broken.

Well they gifted you 17 packs you said. That’s not normal to begin with. It’s to incentivize new players to spend more money to open more packs. There’s a science behind making the pack opening screens “fun” and “colorful” to engage reactors in the brain or some shite. It may not work on you but imagine some 16yr old playing the game now. He has a team that could use some work but good enough to grind challenges with.

You keep focusing on team rating when it it progressively goes up through the year. Even a 90rn isn’t good. I didn’t play MUT this year but I had a 90 team last year by September. If you actually do grind MUT you’ll hit a wall probably 4-6 overall points below the top.

It’s all about getting new players to the game to spend money on it and get them hooked. It’s gambling.

You’re also not familiar with the economics of MUT (or MyTeam or FUT etc etc). They’ve nuked the ratings of the cards that the game launches with and gradually they release better cards throughout the season. It’s called powercreep. It makes previous releases cards obsolete. Madden is actually pretty good to no money squads (NMS) compared to 2k’s MyTeam. It’s Grundy to keep up with in Madden but it’s not that hard if you’re a good player that enjoys the game. Grind WL and grind seasons and if you can win 80% of those games, you should be able to keep up with the game. The rewards are actually good. But... gotta be good at the game.

Don’t hit the sprint trigger until you’re beyond the LOS. As soon as you do the linemen are released from their blocks.

Play draft to build your actual team up. It’s pretty even if you can get a decent draft and win your 6 games for a championship and get a shite load of coinage and S5 Trophy’s. Plus other little stuff along the way, it’s the way I’ve built my team to a 95 overall, I haven’t spent any $ towards MUT this year. All winning draft games...
